Just acquired Murray, do I go get Jarry? Options inside...

Current roster is in my sig. Basically a title contending team for the past few years, slipping a little this year and currently in 5th place due to goalie issues. I traded Stamkos and Theodore for Murray and Zetterberg recently. Now with Murray being away, and Jarry doing well in general even with Murray there, would you target Jarry to just get him in house?

The players the Jarry owner has mentioned are Schmaltz, Josi, Palat, and Saros. Those are realistic options in my opinion. I did tell him it's going to be very hard to get Jaros off my hands since I'd rather just have him over Jarry.

I offered him, to see where he's at, Palat and my 2nd round pick (I don't own my 1st round pick) for Jarry and his 3rd.

He declined and offered Jarry and Zuccarello for Palat, Schmaltz and my 2nd round pick.

I'm not really sure how to value Jarry overall, for this year and into the future. Zuccarello doesn't do much for me with my strength at RW, I could try to get a younger player here or just remove Zuccarello and say the 2nd round pick from the deal to see what he says.

Is this a little too steep for Jarry or worth it because of my skater depth? Palat and the pick are easy for me to part with...but I do like Schmaltz, I just don't think it will happen without him in it.

First, Josi is a crazy option, not a realistic one, don't do that.

Second, I'd be willing to swap Saros for Jarry. As much as I dislike Penguins goalies in leagues with SV% and GAA, especially with daily starts, you'd lock up a team.

Third, have you considered swapping Murray for Rinne in some form? Murray's youth should net you a nice add-on there to make up for the loss of Stamkos.

You take that offer and happily accept. You don't have a bomafide good starting goalie (saros is backup). Accept that button and let your worries decipitate. Also I'm a firm believe Murray doesn't play the rest of the year. Losing a father so young is a huge life moment for Murray and will take plenty of time for family as he should.

I know you like schmaltz but imo it's a smaller price to pay to get jarry. You having Murray makes jarry a lot more valuable. Trust me and get jarry. Also Murray hasn't proved he can play 60 plus games a year so moving forward jarry is a necessary piece for you.

I actually got Murray from the Rinne owner, so your 3rd point won?t be happening. He always wanted too much for Rinne from my perspective so I upped my side for Murray. Maybe I botched there, but can?t look back now.

So you?d rather have Palat and Schmaltz (I literally picked him up early in the season) over Saros to gain the Pitt goalie duo?

For an idea of what else is out there, FA wings (mix of underachieving, vet and youth) - Dadonov, Tatar, Kunitz, Ryan, Barbashev, Yamamoto, Bjork, Athanasiou, Anderson, Donskoi, Spezza, JWilliams, RNash, CSmith, Marleau, etc etc. Lots of specialists for hits PIM and blocks as well.

I also just picked up Glass so I have the Hawks current duo and the Jarry owner (3rd place team) has Crawford. He hasn?t shown interest there though.

Regarding your goalies, I really like Saros a lot. I liek Mrazek more than many, he needs a new situation. However, I think it's reasonable to move Saros for Jarry to lock up the Pittsburgh duo. It's up to you how you value Schmaltz versus Saros.

However, seeing your wire makes me think that with Bjork, Dadonov, Athanasiou, etc out there, I think I'd be very wiling to move Palat & Schmaltz, actually.

Whoa, eeaasy there. My sister lost our dad when she was in high school a few years ago and she got a week off, I think. Murray is an adult male playing professional sports--he will be back as soon as he feels like playing hockey in a few days.

Thanks for all the replies. I was able to remove the draft pick from the deal and I shipped out Schmaltz+Palat for Jarry. I?m happy with the deal and I?ll grab some wings for scoring support or this gives me a floating roster spot. Hopefully I don?t have to worry about DeSmith...

Given the context, I think you did well. Penguins handcuff helps you greatly and you can use the wire to replace some of your F depth. Since you have no 1st round pick next year, I love that you didn't throw away your 2nd rounder to get this done...
