You have answered your own question. McAvoy loses some value in points only and he is buried behind Krug for PP #1 time. Thus, I would take Werenski.
Points only keeper who do like better long term?
McAvoy is going gangbusters in his rookie year but I still think Werenski has the higher ceiling between the two.

Werenski, but it's close. McAvoy has to deal with passing Krug, but Werenski has Jones breathing down his neck.

I like both these guys as long term D
I prefer Werenski by a hair though.
passing Krug is only a matter of time for McAvoy - Krug is replaceable on the top unit, he's not Letang or Karlsson. With Boston's depth, sharing equal time between PP1 & PP2 units seems more likely than needing to take time from Krug. Jones has joined Werenski on PP1 and is benefiting more than Werenski is from that.
The question I have is why do you need to choose? Can't you keep both?

Right now I'm going with Werenski but I think it's just a matter of time before McAvoy catches him at the very least.

I would lean towards Werenski. I really don't think you can go wrong with either to be completely honest..
FYI: Krug is on Boston's PP1 with Spooner and PP2 with McAvoy as of right now. I'm not sure how long that will last, but that's how the B's are rolling it out these days!!
McAvoy is a new shiny toy just like Werenski was last year...they both studs, both have chance to be better than the other but to me that will change year to year....since is points only i think i would give slight edge to Werenski. In multicat i think Mcavoy wins by bigger margin.
