Getzlaf for prospects - need your opinion
Hi,
Full keeper dynasty league, points only, 27 roster and 20 minors (start 4C, 4LW, 4RW, 6D, 2G).
What is your take on this trade offer:
Rebuilding team giving R.Getzlaf for J.Roslovic, K.Kapanen, I.Barbashev
A) This is a top quality return for an aging Getzlaf, you take it and run before the other owner changes his mind about giving all these prospects for one player. It's a steal for the guy getting these prospects only for Getzlaf.
B) The number and the quality of the prospects are pretty much the package I would expect for the grade and age of Getzlaf, 3 nice prospects, an upgrade to the team long term for a rebuild. Pretty even trade.
C) Getzlaf is near point per game player with several good years left in him, the quality of these prospects is not near the return you would expect. It's a steal for the guy getting Getzlaf for so little of quality prospects.

Last year I moved Getzlaf for Roslovic and 1st round pick and was happy, so that would be a stellar return, IMO.

Getzlaf is tops on his team and all those three will never be top line on their respective teams.
I would want a better return if I was moving Getzlaf. So I guess I pick C

I can't list my 2nd main keeper as there are too many players, but it is a keep all H2H points-only league

I'd want more than that. None of those guys are exactly A list prospects.
They may become productive NHLers, but not Getzlaf tier. And that's assuming all reach their potential... which is unlikely.

Getzlaf is worth more than some average prospects. Hes got good years left at close to ppg. Agree that the team receiving the prospects is getting hosed.

I'd rather sink with Getzlaf as I don't expect any of those prospects to have much impact. If I had Getzlaf I'd be aiming for a much better prospect, even if it's just one player...

Thank you guys for your take on it. I agree with the majority here that it is pretty lopsided. I'm commish and I have processed the trade because I hate vetos. But I don't like this kind of lopsided trade for the health of the league.
A second trade between both poolers was done today:
Marchand, Ovechkin, vs Laine, Soderberg, 40th overall pick in the prospect draft, J.Norris, B.Leipsic, J.larsson.
It might be ok in a limited keeper league, but surely not an even trade in a full keeper dynasty.
I understand someone is in a win now mode and someone is rebuilding but to me that's not much of a rebuild when you get a bunch of grade C, D prospects for star players. It's a fire sale. This time a vote was asked by some owners before that I approve the trade. The league owners will decide.

The fact that they then did a second deal looks somewhat fishy. At least Laine is in it.
