Some scouts had him as a potential top pairing def. PP QB.
So what's happened. Is there still hope there?

looks like the injury bug is following him into the AHL 2g 6a in 20 games. That's his knock. His Jr. comparisons were to Letang - similar style, offensive flair & injury prone-edness. He's only in his 1st pro season, so there's no reason to give up on him. An early bday gave him extra year of Q eligibility & injuries have likely slowed SJ's timelines on when he'll be pro.

Of course there's still hope. He's 20 years old in his first year of pro hockey. In todays game, a smooth skating, puck moving, right-handed shooting Dman are always in demand. It's also not like SJ has much coming down the pipe on the backend for high end prospects either.

Like a lot of defense prospects, patience has to be shown.

He's not a future top-pair, 25-minute guy. He's developing well and in time should put up some points in the NHL. Bonus points if he can land a PP spot next to Burns.
