Acquired Crosby - did I overpay?

I traded Tavares, Johansen, and Radulov for Crosby. I got the best player in the deal so in a limited keeper, I think I won. However I can't deny that Tavares has outscored Crosby so far this year, and Johansen and Radulov are no slouches either.

At least this makes my keeper decisions a bit easier... now I just have to pick 2 out of Granlund, Lee, Carlson, Keith, Byfuglien, Toffoli, and Duchene. Any thoughts on who my keepers should be in addition to thoughts on my trade? I added Heinen and Kase right after the trade went through, but in a couple weeks I'll be sending them to the farm team in favour of Point and Fiala. Anyone who was on the farm team at some point this season can be kept in addition to the 12 keeper spots, so those two will be kept no matter what.

I think you overpaid too. I think I would have kept JT and sold RyJo and Radulov for draft picks.

Who cares, your team is stupidly stacked. The two guys you added to JT weren't really clear keepers for you so this is fine. You upgraded a keeper though I do agree that on a not-stupidly-stacked team (NSST for short) this would have been a bit too steep.

Thanks for the feedback everyone. Regarding SergeP's point, I actually just started a thread about how to promote league parity and get rid of SSTs/NSSTs.

Huge overpaynment I think. WoW. In my second league Crosby has been traded for Keller, Marleau and Zucker(one year league) It was just before Keller started his cold streak. We had a discussion about that unfair deal but it went trough.

This is like saying I shouldn't buy candy at the store when I can instead steal it from a baby. Unfortunately the only people in my league who would trade Crosby for Keller already lost their Crosbys (and Kellers) a few years ago.

Your league is set up where you keep a very large part of your roster, so I can't call that a limited keeper. It's not dynasty, but not limited. You keep 12 out of 33 active, plus 6 of 6 farm, plus anyone who spent time on your farm, which seems like it means you will keep probably 20-25 of 39 guys.

I know you overpaid, but you could afford to do so. I suspect it's a win-win deal, because he improved his keepers as well.

Not an over-payment. When you're stacked at C already with McDavid, Eichel & Malkin, guys like Tavares & Johansen are expendable when a Crosby is available.

We can keep a maximum of 20 players total, but yeah other than that, you're bang on. And yeah, the goal was a win-win trade. Johansen is a clear upgrade on one of his keepers, and now he'll have to choose between Turris, Radulov and Horvat for his last keeper spot. But he'll probably try and flip Radulov for picks, maybe even back to me haha.
