Sum of 2 Deals - How does it look? I'll Rep

Gave up:

Pick 52 (4th), Pick 94 (7th), Monahan, Kuz

Gained:

Pick 53 (4th), Pick 71 (6th), Guentzel, Benn, PK Subban

I have completed the Subban deal, just moved down from Rd 4 to 6 (52 to 71), and in the other deal, would move up from 7 (94) to 4 (53) (haven't completed yet).

The Pick number is just speculative at this point, but gives you an idea. So ultimately my 4th rounder is pretty much staying the same, and I'm improving my late 7th to early 6th, plus I get 3 guys and only lose 2. My d is hurting right now, with just Hamilton starting and Byfuglien hurt.

I'm obviously giving up a lot to get Benn/Guentzel, but I think the pick upgrade is always nice, plus the fact I'm improving my roster further with the d addition. I also did a deal a couple of weeks ago where I moved Aho for Pacioretty.

My picks for 2018 currently: 1, 2, 4, 4, 5, 6, 7, 7, 8

My picks after trades: 1, 2, 4, 4, 5, 6, 6, 7, 8

So going from 1 sixth and 2 sevenths to 2 sixths and 1 seventh.

Doesn't seem like much at initial glance, but I'm moving up more in the Benn deal than I am dropping in the Subban deal.

Then will go into next year with Benn (4), Wheeler (3), Patches (2), Hall (1) and Boeser (rookie carry-over).

I'll try to sell Guentzel in the off-season, or if I can get a better return for Pacioretty I'll move him and keep Guentzel, but 1 of those guys will be moved.

I would rather have Benn& Subban than Kuz and Monahan so getting Guetzel in there too is great. The addition of a slightly better pick makes this a definite win. Good deal.

Thanks man, just gives me more pieces to work with, as much as it sucks to lose Kuzy/Monahan, but got to give up something to get something, and I still have Hall, Boeser, Wheeler, Patches, so I think I'm strong all around.

Thanks man, what do you like about the deals? I know you weren't super fond of Hall/Monahan for Kane, but obviously getting Guentzel and giving up Kuzy vs Hall is better, in my opinion. Then when you look at it in totality with the Subban deal, even better. I'll miss Kuzy/Monahan, but they did well for me while I had them.

yeah... this is a really solid deal. Benn/Guentzel is tempting alone.. adding in PK is a no brainer accept.

Well it's still 2 separate deals, but I get what you're saying! I have needed a defensive boost for awhile, so figured Subban was a good target based on his price.

I think some would Subban is stronger in multi-cat, but he's younger than Big Buff, and I think he's a good bet for 50 points. Then I can just run out the 2 guys who are hot (once Buff is healthy).

Thanks man, we'll see who has a better 2nd half between Guentzel/Patches. My thought was to sign Patches to 2, but argument could be made for Guentzel there too. Guess I'll explore the market for those 2 in the off-season, and go from there. Probably move the guy who garners the better return, and keep the other. Patches was a 2 when I acquired him, but since I'll have 2 year slot open going into next season with the loss of Kuzy, I can top him up. Guentzel has no contract, so could sign him there if Patches ends up being the guy to move. I'm leaning towards Patches in terms of a keeper though, at least for the moment just given his track record, not based on this year though obviously.

I think I'm in a good spot with my squad, just not sure that anyone can catch #1 (2.64 fp/g) since next closest guy is 2.36, but I guess lots of season to go. I'm in 5th at 2.27 fp/g.
