Default My name is Dougie Hamilton and there's a million things I haven't done...

Nice problem to have: Mr. Hamilton is probably the weakest player on my team. I expected more out of him this year (like most everyone else) and I'm getting tired of waiting for him to erupt. Though the Capped piece from last week (http://www.dobberhockey.com/hockey-h...ated-spending/) suggests I should hold tight.

My league is notoriously trade-averse and the best free agent D at the moment are Ekholm, Braun, Spurgeon, Yandle, Niskanen, Butcher, Rielly, Barrie, Russell, Gardiner and Faulk. I think my best play is to hold tight...just wondering if there were any differing opinions out there.

I have Hamilton too, and the free agent market is similar to yours.

If it's the league in your Sig and if I'm reading it right it's points only? To me Hamilton loses a ton of value in points only leagues until he is firmly on PP1. One day it will happen but it's looking more and more like that day is not going to be in the 2017/18 season.

He should still pace for 45-50 the rest of the way and I'm not sure if anyone else on the wire out paces that. Yandle is a pretty decent option in points only and he's getting PP1, which really is the key. Not sure I'd drop Hamilton yet though.

Considering your other options on the WW, I would still hold Hamilton. At best it's a lateral move for some of those guys available and that's with Hamilton playing at a lower level then expected. In a keeper, he's a must hold and be patient.

I've had my eye on Hamilton for a while and just haven't brought myself to make his owner an offer. I've spent a decent chunk of my season waiting for slow starters to get going and I don't know if I want to take on another.

I don't really know how Hamilton loses any value in points-only because he isn't very good with peripheral stats. 32 hits and 27 blocks in 31 games - that's not great.

I have him, and I am holding. Picked up Leddy ( hate carrying an extra D) so he sits on occasion. If you can't trade him, it is really the only alternative.

    Barrie's on a 59pt pace. I'm not sure, even in a 8 team how he's a UFA.

Do you mind looking into my Benn and Subban trade threads? I already acquired Subban, and might be getting Benn in a separate deal..

I would take Barrie over Hamilton every time. How come he's not getting any love? Barrie is a 50-point dman and is playing well right now. Even looking at their career numbers...

    Hamilton:
    372 GP, 189 points

    Barrie:
    367 GP, 212 points

It's funny how much a name skews value. Other than last season, Barrie has always been the better own and he always will be the better own. Don't let plus/minus fool you... if it counts in your league chances are it's pretty negligent.

Barrie, Rielly, Yandle, Butcher are the guys to watch.

A cumulative points league means what exactly?

I guess it's just a points league, but it's cumulative across the whole season rather than head to head. Is there better terminology for that?
