Dell's future
I was wondering what y'all thought about Aaron Dell and his likely future. UFA at seasons end. Does he get a chance at being a 1b? Or maybe gets a Darling or Raanta opportunity? He's been consistently good coming up the ranks and has done a great job backing up Martin the last couple years. Thoughts?

Depends what teams feel they need goaltending help, but he is one goalie i'd target to be the next backup turned starting goalie.
he has never really gotten a chance to prove himself so I doubt he gets a starters gig like Raanta but going somewhere like Florida to be a 1B goalie would make sense.

I doubt he gets an opportunity to be an immediate #1 goalie. If he's going to become the top guy somewhere he'll have to steal the gig.

Where does he become a number 1 goalie? There are limited opportunities out there, and the Raanta, Darling or Talbot signings don't always work out anyways.

I'm not sure where he ends up but I think the guy has shown in his small sample size he could run with an opportunity. A team like Ottawa makes sense to me. There's a lot of iffy spots to wrestle a gig away around the league. At least in my opinion he could prove to be more than a career backup. Goalies are voodoo and like bottlenecker has said, the backup to starter signings don't always workout. Just curious about others thoughts and opinions on the guy.

Anderson will be fine for a few more seasons.
I don't see Dell as much more than a backup long term. Injuries to the guy in front of him may give him more starts than we expect but we cant know those until they happen.

Ideally for him, he's a 1B option to another underperforming or old goalie.
The issue we've seen is that the NHL likes recycling starters when they have shown they are nothing special, and there are a number teams who have too much commitment in dollars and term to their starter or tandem. That said, lots of backup level contracts are very easily moved.
