Thoughts on Sam Reinhart?
So, has Sam joined Yak as a poster boy for high first round picks that are busts? Or...is there still hope? What has me wondering is his inability to capitalize on skating big minutes with Eichel. It doesn't get much better than that I would think. What's going on here?

Thanks Axe. He has actually hit the waiver wire and he's been there a while, not much interest, and that surprised me. I have a limited number of allowable pick ups and I'm wondering if I should burn one and take a flyer on him.

Expectations just need to be lowered until things get better in buffalo or they lose patience and he blossoms elsewhere as Turris did in Ott

Clearly I have nothing to lose. I'm just trying to get a better sense of what is going wrong with Reinhart and what we might expect in the future. I haven't seen many Sabres games so I'm wondering if the problem is a team problem or whether it's a Sam problem.....or a little of both. Put another way, is he showing signs of being a legit 2nd overall pick, or did the Sabres make a big mistake?

He's not at yaks level yet. Reinhart is the product of his deployment and a poor team right now. Time will tell but he's shown alot more than yak has already.

That's how I feel as well. I wouldn't call him a bust yet. He's still just 22 years old. And he put up pretty good totals his first couple of years. But I think he really does need a change of scenery. Look at Eichel this year. That Buffalo team needs a bit of adjusting.
Right now Kane seems like the only one getting it done.

Glad I moved him when I did, I would certainly stay away from him now especially with languishing on 4th line at times. I would say trending more towards a bust more then a buy low consideration

He's had 2 decent seasons and is struggling this year (but so is most of the Buffalo Sabres as a whole) so I'd make this season as a write off for now. If he carries on with this low of production for a couple years then I'll start thinking "bust".
