    Default Jarry, or ?? Rep!

To add to my goalie woes, Murray goes down. From other threads it seems like folks are pretty united on Jarry being a decent pickup. But there are other FA's on our list that might be worth a look. Elliott, Lehner, Markstrom, Greiss, Halak, Nilsson and even Ward (as a handcuff for Darling) are all available. Is Jarry still the best move?

And who to drop! I already have Rakell on my IR. Check my roster below... care to vote for a guy to drop?

    Thanks!

I think Jarry is definitely the one to pick up, especially since you got Murray. I'm just not sure who you can drop. Darling probably?

If I drop Darling, I'm going to have to believe that Jarry will get 80% of the starts for PIT. If not, I might not get my minimum of 4 starts/week. Dubnyk has not been getting 80%, so dropping Darling becomes a risk. But I'd hate to part with Karlsson or Boeser.

With all those names available, I’d stand pat and wait until he goes on IR to pick up one of these for “free”. If you only have 1 IR spot, I’d be ok dropping Rakell at that point.

I'm a Pens fan so take that for what you will, but I would pick up Jarry. The current prognosis for Murray is a 2-4 week absence, so they aren't going to acquire another goalie (or if they do, it won't be anyone who takes over the #1 from Jarry) nor do they have anyone better on their roster than Jarry. So Jarry will get the starts. They called up Casey DeSmith to be the backup, and he previously had the first chance to take the backup job after they cut Niemi because their preference was to have Jarry start regularly in the AHL. DeSmith got one start, got yanked in the first period, and then they abandoned that plan and called up Jarry to be the backup. DeSmith is actually a decent minor league goalie but the short leash tells you how little chance he has of getting anything more than starts in back-to-backs. Granted, Jarry plays like a 22 year old rookie which he is (he got embarrassed last night when he badly mistimed a poke check and the skater easily stepped around him for a score), but he has legit talent and with the Pens upside for wins, he is better than anyone else in your list. Nilsson is actually a good streamer/matchup play, but if number of starts is an issue, Jarry would be the better pick. The drop for me is Karlsson. In a 10 team league, I have a difficult time believing he is that valuable or that he will continue at his current level.

You can afford to drop Green to pick up Jarry if you truly need an extra G.

Perhaps it's not ideal to drop Darling as he is the #1 netminder of the Hurricanes.
    Cheers!

I agree with dropping Green just in case Murray is long term.

Really? Drop Green over Karlsson? I've thought about it and I am never impressed with having a DET D on my team (sorry, hockeyrobot!). And Green's numbers have fallen off of late. Interesting to see a DET fan advise me to drop him. I guess that should give you a lot of cred! It'll be between Karlsson and Green. Probably Green at this point. Thanks guys!
