So 2 weeks after the minimum wage increase in Ontario, the obvious is now happening and people are protesting Tim Hortons across Canada. Yes they are a corporation but each store is franchised. Now the parent company, Restaurant Brands Intl is supposed to protect their employees? According to The Great White North Franchisee Association, with these changes, the average cost for each Tim Horton franchise is $243,889 per year. Quite significant.
I don't think employees at Tim Hortons were complaining prior to this wage increase. I would prefer benifits for my family over an extra K or 2 a year, which I would think the majority of TH's employees are there for in the first place. I imagine there are similar issues with most smaller businesses. Where is our premier? This was her idea after all. Oh, she must be waiting for the poll numbers to come out for the next election.
