Default Sell high on Brayden Schenn?

Curious what you guys think about BSchenn's hot start. Sustainable or not? His percentages are a little inflated, but not insanely so.

I'm mostly thinking about the second pool in my sig. In the first, Schenn's peripherals add to his value, so he's likely a keeper for me going forward. In the second, I am toying with trolling BSchenn to see if I can snag an underperformer like Patches, Burns, or Pavelski. Thoughts?

    Cheers.

I don't think I'd trade for Pavelski at the moment, given his recent injury woes. I'm more intrigued by Burns, although your defense on your second team already looks strong. Pacioretty is fine, although the team he plays for is a mess right now.

I mentioned selling high on Schenn in today's Ramblings. You still have peripherals on your second team, so I'd probably hang onto him there too unless someone makes you an offer you can't refuse.

I own him and unless the offer is ridiculous I'm holding. Basically I'm not going to shop him, if someone came to me I'd listen.

I'm a huge buy low/sell high fan but I think Schenn is one of the few that can be a consistent scoring threat. He put up very good numbers in limited roles in Philly; is now the #1 centre on a better team alongside one of the best offensive players in the game.

He won't get 80 every year (or most likely ever) but I can see high 60s and maybe 70s with 25+ goals and a good plus minus

I drafted him in our first round (after all the keepers) hoping this is what he would do. And for once it worked out for me, nothing he is doing currently is crazy. So I am keeping him for this year and might end up one of my keepers for next year

What he is doing is not sustainable, he will not have 120 points at end of the season..but i think he can flirt with 80 if he stays healthy..atm he is a beast and i dont think he will fall off by far giving his linesmates...i think he he is great have in points only and must have in multicats. But everybody has their own price, it depends what you can get...

He's on pace 112 points and I don't think anyone is saying he's going to end up with that. A 70 point pace going forward is certainly sustainable when you look at what he's doing, line mates, situational usage, and shooting percentage. Based on where his draft average is that is an extremely productive pace.

If you want him in my league youre going to end up overpaying (essentially at this stage if I'm trading him it's going to be as a ppg player. I'm not saying that's what he is forever more, likely he's not, but this could be a huge year and I'll happily ride him).

I drafted Schenn with my 1st pick (16th overall) in my H2H league in my signature. I thought he'd have a minor uptick in production but as is usually the case...as soon as a "name" player gets traded to another team that has a star player everyone starts thinking the usual 55point player just turned into a 80point threat. So I sold on the hype within the first week of the season. I ended up trading schenn for perry, a 2nd and a 9th figuring schenn and perry's stats would be similar by the end of the season (excluding hits which I could afford to lose with the team I drafted). I do marginally regret trading him even tho I've won all my match-ups so far and currently sit in 1st. Hopefully as a now non schenn owner his point total ends up "only" in the 60-65ish area so I'm not left kicking myself.

P.S. I may end up trying to reaquire him most likely at a higher cost then I sold him for...just so no other contending teams can get him.

i traded for Schenn prior to the draft and had him as one of my 5 keepers. I know the rest of the GM’s thought I was nuts but I based my decision on Dobber’s ratings, and now no one thinks i’m crazy...at least not for that decision. I’ve floated a possible trade involving Schenn for McDavid...will let you know how it works out.

This pace is obviously not sustainable but I don't see why he shouldn't end up with 80-90 pts. He is playing with 2 studs and the chemistry is just right to do so.

he may have always had it in him to be a higher offensive producer than what he showed in philly so even of you get lucky and ''sell high'' you might be the one with regrets .

only 26 and has barely missed any games for 4 seasons .

This pace is not sustainable obviously. He is the #1 rated skater in my pool currently based on season performance. However, everyone thought it was highly likely the moment he was traded that he would be centering Tarasenko (which he is) and that he'd be fire. Those people on Dobber were all right as far as I'm concerned. Schenn is going to continue to be a beast... and he is now the #1 center on the Blues with a very consistent goal scorer on his wing. Not to mention the guy is a career 14% shooter and shoots over 200 shots a year these days. I would not look at this as a sell high situation.

In fact, I kept him instead of Phil Kessel this year... and I regret not keeping Kessel instead of Panarin or Getzlaf now... but regardless he is a keeper in almost any format and I'd put him above Kessel as a keeper without question these days.

I only have him in a yearly league and I drafted him VERY early based on his ranking.....but there is no way i expected this. I would only sell him for someone elite.

Thanks for all your input guys. I think we're all on the same page--I would only move him if I could get another GM to significantly overpay.
