    Default Marner -REP-

    League in sig.

This weekend I tossed the Marner owner in my league a random offer of Radulov for the Leafs youngster. He declined and got indignant and demanded Laine in a counter-offer. I refused and walked away from the table.

So this AM the OGM is asking to resume talks. He didnt send another offer but he did say Radulov is a huge underpay for Marner but he is open to other ideas.

Question 1: Is Marner going to be a stud in a multi-cat format? Will his scoring make up for weak peripherals?
Question 2: Is this year just a sophomore slump? He hasnt been good.
Question 3: Should I be trading for him, and if so, what should my next offer be? I declined Laine and he declined Radulov, so its going to come in somewhere between. He wants a winger.

Need some help here boys. Talk me into or out of trading for Marner, then help me decide what to offer. REP REP REP for your guidance and assistance.

I think Marner will be a point producer--not sure about all the other cats.
Does the other guy want a guy producing now?

Selling high on Namestnikov might be good--although maybe that's more of an underpay than Radulov.
    Couturier is another sell-high IMO.

I don't think Radulov is as big of underpayment as he is making it out to be.

Radulov is scoring on a high-powered offense and is just below a point per game... what is Marner doing??

Kindly remind him of a guy name Ryan Nugent Hopkins... who had a a good first season as well and then fell off after that. remind him that Marner is not guaranteed to be a stud and will always take a back seat to Matthews and likely Nylander.

Would you trade Radulov of RNH right now? likely not... so if you are in a spot where you can win.. I would almost leave it a lone and go for the championship.

Marner will get his points but not much else. He's turned it up lately. I wouldn't do Laine for him though.

Radulov seems fair to me although if I owned Marner id want an add just based on age.

I acquired Marner a couple weeks ago in a roto league, limited keeper.
I gave up Seabrook & Namestnikov.

Marner won't ever be racking up the hits, but tons of points + PPP + sog are good enough even for a multi-cat league. The points will come in time. Even if he has a bit of a slump this year, the kid went almost a point/game last year as a teenager.

So far you could say I've lost the trade because Namest hasn't slowed down at all. My bigger concern was that Namestnikov's value comes from Stamkos/Kuch. An injury or line shuffle could render the asset fairly ordinary. I'll always choose the talent over the passenger.

Try Teravainen. TT is on a hot streak of late so recency bias will be in your favour here.

Marner is a skilled player and his upside becomes higher playing under a great coach and system. If you are able to catch the Leafs games - it is clear he has the step on many players - but he has yet to put it together on a consistent basis. Like the others have said - he will not help you in leagues with Hits and PIM's but do see him as a consistent point producer on a much improved Leafs squad. I like Laine more - and also agree that Radulov is not an embarrassing offer. Your team looks really stacked - so he might be asking for more simply due to the strength you have
