    Default Miro Heiskanen

He's off to an excellent start after battling a concussion earlier in the year.

    10 pts (6G 4A) in 10 games

He had 10 pts in all of last year in 37 games...

Is Honka still a better fantasy option ?

I own Heiskanen and I don't think I would move him for Honka.

    Just saying...

Honka has more upside but Heiskanen is more of a sure thing. Some people value upside and some people value certainty.

I think Heiskanen will be a #1 D-man for Dallas.

These are obviously before his 10th game where he scored 2 points but safe to say he's been very impressive so far as an 18-year-old D-man playing against men at the top level in Finland.

Heiskanen played for Team Finland at the Karjala Cup tournament where Finland had most of the players who will play for them at the Olympics, and Heiskanen was perhaps the best all-around D-man for the team. He made some mistakes but also scored 2 goals and played big minutes in all situations. His chances of playing at the Olympics are very high now after this performance and also based on the strong season he's had so far in the Finnish league.

Team Finland played against Russia, Sweden and Canada, and those teams also had most of their Olympic team on the roster (Team Finland won all 3 games), so it wasn't like Heiskanen was playing against easy opponents either.

I'll post something about Eeli Tolvanen as well from the same tournament but I'll just add that it was really interesting to see when Team Finland played on 4-on-3 PP against Team Canada at crucial time in the game, and both Tolvanen and Heiskanen were playing on that PP. That speaks volumes about the trust they're getting from the head coach.

    Very likely.
I can't promise I'll try but I'll try to try.

Good stuff, I've just traded to get him (he wasn't the master piece of the trade, but happy I got him in the deal)

I was able to sneak him into a deal earlier this year, and I am pleased with the progress I have read about. Honka certainly hasnt set the world on fire. Wouldnt carve anything in stone there.

Heiskanen probably could have played in the NHL already this season but concussion issues derailed that. He's currently one of the best or perhaps even the best D-man playing in Europe, so yes, he's very likely to play in the NHL next season.

    Very nice.

I was elated to get him 10th in our entry draft. From everything I read, he has been excellent this season. His defense has always been elite and his offensive game has blossomed this season.

Last year, I drafted McAvoy 22nd and this year Heiskanen 10th. My blueline is looking good in the future.

    Is he for real?

I own him in a 16 team pts league (keep 6). Is he worth keeping? I snagged him up on free agents because I have Zaitsev, Wennberg on IR but I'll have to drop someone when they get activated. I'm currently in 1st place. We go to a h2h playoff bracket. Top 4 teams make the play-offs. Weekly lineups.

Wouldn't you be losing him inevitably for next season in a keep 6 or are there rookie keeper slots? Who are some of the other best prospects currently available in your league? This will help me get a feel for his value.

More than likely, was just hanging onto him in case he had real value and had a big world juniors. There aren't any rookie keeper slots. The other prospects available in this league (by most % owned)

    Josh Ho-Sang
    Sonny Milano
    Olli Juolevi
    Timothy Liljegrin
    Sam Steel
    Evgeny Svechnikov

In a keep 6? Definitely not a keeper.

Yeah with all those solid prospects I don't see him having all that much trade value. But I would drop Pearson in order to keep him.
