Not sure why you'd own Eaves anyway, unless you're in an uber-deep league. This from the Mayo Clinic:

    Recovery

Although some people can take months and even years to recover, most people with Guillain-Barre syndrome experience this general timeline:

After the first signs and symptoms, the condition tends to progressively worsen for about two weeks
Symptoms reach a plateau within four weeks
Recovery begins, usually lasting six to 12 months, though for some people it could take as long as three years
Among adults recovering from Guillain-Barre syndrome:

About 80 percent can walk independently six months after diagnosis
About 60 percent fully recover motor strength one year after diagnosis
About 5 to 10 percent have very delayed and incomplete recovery

    https://www.mayoclinic.org/diseases-...t/drc-20363006

I hope for Eaves personally that he makes a full and speedy recovery. From a fantasy hockey perspective, if I were you, I'd seek out other sources of aggravation.

Oh I dunno...32 reasons in a goal heavy deep league.

Thanks for the info, guess its time to drop him if he won't be back for months.

32 goals at age 32...after 14 was his best before that. I think he'd be a bust even if he didn't get this strange affliction.

Has anyone heard anything? Is this guy worth hanging onto?

I am in a super deep league (16 team - 28 man roster, 15 prospect). We have two IR spots, but I also have Kreider, Weber, Crawford and Barrie on the shelf.

Disturber layer it out nicely. Eaves probably will not play again, certainly not this year.

In a league that deep, maybe you can get a small asset back from someone with an empty IR?

I"ve been hanging on to him after spending a very high draft pick on him all year. Separating the real life from the Fantasy... all the best to him... but what a frick'n fantasy bust. And this league is UBER deep as SD put it above. 24 teams partial keep with 5 man Farm carry over.

But with Guys like Perry, Weber, Rust and recently returned Stralman all on the shelf, I'm starting to think about cutting ties myself.

He had such a great start last year and continued to explode with his new team mid way through the season. I'm less of a critic... I think he could have been a lock on the 2nd Line RW and matched his performance if it wasn't for his medical condition.

Oh well... Shit happens, and Shift it there to disturb it.

    Latest News

    Recent News

Patrick Eaves (Guillain-Barre Syndrome) is starting to work out off the ice.

There is no timetable for Eaves to return to the ice to start skating, nevermind playing, but to see him back in the Arena is great news. "I did a lot of reading because I didn’t understand it," GM Bob Murray said of the illness. "I don’t quite still understand it. With him and talking to the three different neurologists that have dealt with him, it’s not – and, again, you should talk to him not me – a classic case of it. He’s had some symptoms. For him to only have been in the hospital a week … some guys last in there for two months from what I’m hearing and reading about. He’s doing really well. He’s pushing like crazy. Again, he’s a busy guy these days right now. Trying to rehab himself." Sun, Nov 12, 2017 06:18:00 AM

I doubt anyone picks him up if you drop him. you have other significant injuries you need room for as their time tables for return is much quicker.

His twitter seems optimistic, but that's still all it really is, optimism. I'll be hanging on for now but like I said, I'm in a 24 team league. The thought of him playing is valuable to my squad.

    From TSN on Dec. 31:

Anaheim's Patrick Eaves, out for the season with Guillain-Barre syndrome, was in attendance for the first time this season. Said Carlyle: "He's definitely part of our group and we haven't forgotten about him. We're going to let him and his family take their time."
