Default Calling all goalie gurus (will rep)

As I said on an earlier thread, I am being selective with my goalie starts this week trying to win gaa and sv. pct.

So far I have no starts. My opponent has 2 in the books with a 5.14 gaa and an .809 sv pct, and 0 wins so he will be starting all of his goalies the rest of the week to get his numbers in line.

His goalies are Rask, Jones, and Anderson ( he should have 4 more starts).

My question is which of my goalies matchups are the best ( I need 2, preferably before Sunday)

    Weds Andersen at Anaheim
Thurs Dubnyk v Habs, Smith vPitt, Andersen v LA
Sat Dubs v Chicago, Andersen at Blues
    Sun Smith v NJ
HTH Daily League, 8 teams, (goals, ppp, +/-, assists, SOG, W, GAA, SV%) keepers in Bold.

"Goalie Guru" is a misnomer. They are voodoo, and we all just try to make educated guesses.

TBH I think none of those matchups are great. I think you could pretty much flip a coin. Sorry, I know this isn't helpful.

I’d start Smith and Andersen in all those games. You know Andersen will give way too McIlhaney for one of those...probably the Thurs LA game. Dub against the Habs may be a risky play given the fact that they have scored 13 goals in the last two games. I’d just go for the 4 starts with Smith and Andersen.

Your opponent has atrocious peripherals so I would lean towards all the starts you can early to try and sweep the categories. The only game in there that worries me is Smith v. Pitt Thursday (although its tail of a back-to-back for Pittsburgh).

I'd be maxing out starts given our opponent's numbers thus far at least until Saturday and then re-evaluate.

As. Shaky as Andersen has been, can he put together a couple of quality starts back to back?? I agree on the Habs start, but it is in Minnesota, which changes it a bit.

Good point I just have to avoid a blowout.

Yes Andersen will be ok. Babcock has shaken the D up and the team will be motivated. Andersen was just fine in the last game but they couldn’t get him another one. Given your opponents stats you’re fine to start Andersen.

On the second point...that’s probably exactly what the Anderson owner thought with the Habs IN Ottawa. DOH!!!

Getzlaf is on the IR that has to be a huge downgrade to Anaheim offense.
Pacioretty still only has 4 points I like Dubnyk against the Habs.

If Andersen doesn't play Wed.... my next vote would be Andersen vs. LA>

I agreed with PenguinHunter. I would start Andersen today against Anaheim and Dubnyk tomorrow against MTL. Then you can decide what to do rest of the week.

As somebody said earlier, goalies are voodos. Last week I needed a spot start on Saturday. I had to choose between Dell (vs. BUF) Pavelec (vs. MTL) and Forsberg (vs. Edm). I choosed Dell, it worked out well, but I'm confident next time I will choose the wrong netminder...

Why does Pitt scare you? They haven't rolled on anybody yet, have they?

Start all of your goalies on Wednesday and Thursday (Dubnyk + Andersen if he starts) and then see where you are. You have a big cushion with your opponent starting the week with those numbers.

Curtis McElhinney confirmed for tonight @ LA

Not a fan of any of those matchups honestly. but if you have to pick 2, I'd go Andersen and Smith.

Habs have 13 goals in the past two, will it continue? Dubnyk then faces Chicago...
