At 4.5M for two years, he's going to Russia. No one wants that price tag or cap hit for that gamble. They may have wanted it before the season, but a I don't know about now..
One possibility that opened up is Boedker in SJS. Same cap hit more or less and could be a decent swap, except Boedker has more term left than Ship... and Vegas looks like they don't want to do term at all.

At the same time though with only a two-year contract, that's a relatively small risk to be absorbing for a team that is desperate for scoring help.
That being said I'm completely talking out of my butt because I've never watched Ship play.

He was highly sought after this summer- and got like one games worth of playing time? How does Vegas even know? Id love to se him go somewhere and kill it- but I think hes gone. This got way too messy way too fast- he had a good gig in the K- hard to see him not going back. SMH...

It all started with the contracts... They took on extra D for no reason other than to hope for early injuries and trades and they demoted their prize asset to the AHL. Very very bad business decision and that's a real hard 9M to swallow just like that.

I agree. What horrible mismanagement from Vegas, who also think they are playoff contenders as apparently any goalie playing for them saves 0.950% of all shots!
Today I was thinking how he'd likely help Carolina, with J Staal and Kruger taking tough match ups. Also gives Skinner SOMEONE to play with.

This likely kills any chance they have to sign Gusev, who they got for taking Garrison from TBay, and with them sending Rienhart and Garrison down, they got absolutely nothing from EDM and a 2nd from TB. Wow what a great expansion draft
