Default Jonathan Quick - Concussion Protocol

He gets hit in the head by his own D-Man skating by. Then there were a number of stoppages after the play then they finally tried to get Quick off the ice. They signal him to go off the ice, he shakes his head and wants to stay. He goes down the tunnel for not even a minute and comes back on the ice. They then force him to be out for at least one play. Quick-est concussion protocol I've ever seen lol.

He's back in the game btw. Just thought the scenario was a little bizarre.

I'll tell you right now, if it's the playoffs, I'm having my fourth liners "accidentally" hit the goalie in the head every game. Especially a hot goalie. You mean he has to leave the ice and at worst, my guy gets a 2 min penalty for goaltender interference? I'm in. It's too easy to make a mockery of this well-intentioned, but poorly understood/misapplied rule.

    1. I'm pretty sure it was Hymans shoulder who hit him, very accidental tho.
    2. If that was the system, it's BS showmanship for the world to say they have a system. He didn't even go to the dark room, no way.
    3. I instantly thought he'd get picked out because he held his head falling to the ground, and laid on the ground hold his head after the whistle.
    4. If they consider having your "bell rung" is a concussion, he had one. 100% had one.
    5. System failed too me. The coach should have been on the safety side, there's 1:11 left in the period, let Kuemper play it out, and have Quick just go to the dressing room. Quick shouldn't have full on REFUSED to get off the ice at first, players need to realize they play a big part in this, and the system fully failed when Quick came out even before the next faceoff.

These guys are not babies... the system is in place. If they refuse to go by it, it’s on them. I get that if you are concussed, your judgement may be impaired but then again, you know your own body. If you think something’s wrong and you prefer to get it checked out, you have a protocol in place.

Quick could have left the ice initially and lied about his unperceivable symptoms (dizzy, nauseous, head ache, ...) just to get back on the ice as quickly as possible. I’m all for player safety but if the player doesn’t want to be helped, it’s on him!

The issue is when they start suing the league in 10yrs for not "protecting" them enough, saying they had no recollection of denying symptoms.

Really looked to me like Forbort punched him in the head when he was trying to clear Hyman out of the crease.

I'm a Quick owner in multiple leagues so I would have been pretty rattled if he had gotten hurt but I see this as karma - Toffoli tried to shove Gardiner (I think) into Andersen earlier in the period and didn't get a penalty for it.

Quick told the bench he was selling to get a call. It's no mystery

Sorry, the D-man did punch Quick in the head, wasn't Hyman's shoulder at all.
