It's a toss-up between Carlson and Parayko IMO. Rielly's got too much upside and Faulk puts a lot of rubber on net.
I'd probably drop Parayko since there's a chance Carlson returns to his glory days but I wouldn't bank on it.
Hey all,
The league is a points-based league that gives point values to pretty much all categories. Weight is heavily given to G and SOG, and peripheral stats such as hits and blocks are scored pretty heavily. To give you an idea, a guy who can do it all like a Chris Kreider as a 25 goal 25 assist guy will usually be ranked top 50 in this league.
I noticed today that somehow John Carlson is a FA in this league so I picked him up but now I'm left with 5 D and don't know who to cut. How would you rank the following given these league settings:
Carlson
Rielly
Ristolainen
Faulk
Parayko
Thanks! Another option I'm looking to is to try and sell on Rielly to one of the many hardcore Leaf fans in this league...but I want to know who y'all would cut.

Parayko would be my drop, but they all have some very real upside.

I would also choose to cut Parayko. I just simply like the other 4 better.
Considering the info you offered, I'd cut Morgan Rielly at this point.

Parayko would be one I would cut as Carlson is on top PP on Washington, and Pietrangelo is a ridiculous monster on that top PP now, so Parayko will get some love but not top love for sure

A better assessment would be to see your F's and G's as well as know how many you start at each position. it's possible, you're better off running with 5D and dropping a F.

I generally load my team with volume shooters that get a lot of peripheral value, as if they can do that and score ~20-25 goals and 60+ points they're golden in this setup.

Cut Parayko, I think you're probably set in peripherals given your remaining roster. The offensive upside of the others is probably too valuable to pass up. The only forward I would consider dropping would be Aho but I'd likely hang on to him for the time being.

This is a really tough call when you start to analyze taking into account the hits and blocks categories. Where it seems at first Parayko might be an obvious dropper, when you get into the weeds he may be more valuable than Reilly despite the latter's hot start. All 5 Dmen are SOG machines who can score Goals, so the peripherals may end up carrying the day, and the fact is Reilly will likely not rack up hits and blocks like some of the others, and while he does shoot lots he's likely to be more of an assist-heavy guy in his career. So I'd drop Reilly.

Fair enough, but Rielly is looking like a beast this year AND more importantly for the first time ever in his career he's getting PP1 time (only a matter of time before he replaces the defensive liability that is Gardiner).
His scoring ceiling will be higher which should offset the lower peripherals
Very good points, and then what this comes down to is whether Rielly exceeds Parayko's point totals so much that it makes up for the deifference in peripheral categories, my guess is no but it's definitely a close call. Thinking about it some more, maybe I do drop Parayko after all.
Bondon- this is one of the tougher calls in recent memory, thanks for the brain exercise.

Parayko is the odd guy out here. Peitrangelo is unreal, and there is no way Parayko can compete. The rest of them are the top dog on their team.
