    Default Buy Low, Sell High

We've now got a decent enough sample where we can begin making deals based on supposedly overperforming or underperforming players. Curious to hear your buy low and sell high candidates so far this year.

I will preface this by saying buy low doesn't mean ten cents on the dollar. If a star is struggling you will be lucky to get them at 80 or 90 cents on the dollar. I also understand that you don't want to trade a guy just because he's overperforming. Sometimes it's better to just ride the wave and see what happens. Nonetheless, if you have to or want to make a trade, here are some names.

My list is a work in progress...

    Buy Low:
    Mitch Marner
    Joe Pavelski
A lot of Habs players...I feel there's a stench around that team where people might be willing to jump ship early.

    Sell High:
    Evander Kane
    Dustin Brown

12 team H2H Most Cats Wins; Keep 6/winner keeps 7; G A PPP +/- SHP SOG HIT BLK PIM // W SV GAA SV% SHO
    3 C, 3 LW, 3 RW, 6D, 2G, 5 bench

    C - McDavid, Crosby, Tavares
    LW - DeBrincat
    RW - Meier, Miller
    D -
    G - Jarry

My sell highs are guys that are ppg or better currently but are clearly not ppg players:

Mike Green (9 points in 8 games)
Dustin Brown (11 points in 7 games)

Derek Brassard (10 points in 8 games)
Jake Muzzin (8 points in 7 games)
Olli Maata (8 points in 9 games)

If you can get value for them I'm selling.

Agree with this. Was considering of offering Namestnikov for Pacioretty but I let the league know he is available. I made sure to say how old he is and how many points he has lol.

I just bought low on Price and Burns + 2nd for Crawford and Sergachev + 5th in my keeper.

Tavares is always an early season buy low candidate. First 30 games every year or so people say it every year and then he goes nuclear 2nd half

That's not buying low, that's highway robbery. You should barely get Price with that package, and you should have to pay a similar price to acquire Burns as well. You got two elite players for the price of one, and somehow managed to get a draft pick upgrade while doing that.

In one of my pools a Habs fan dropped Pacioretty this morning. Needless to say I've put in a waiver claim...

In our league, with 40% goalie categories, having top goalies on winning teams is very important. A franchise goalie on a crap team(Habs) is going to see his value plummet into the earth's crust. Especially since Price historically starts the season strong and falters down the stretch. Same way Tavares starts super slow every year then goes nuclear after the all star break. Price historically does his best at the start of the season then becomes average in the mid season. This year is concerning

He kept trying to sell me Price(and everyone else I think). First time he asked for Talbot and Seguin and my 1st for Price and Malkin and his 3rd. I smashed reject. I know he made a similar offer to another GM for Tarasenko + Allen and that GM rejected.

The second time he offered Price + his 3rd for Crawford and my 1st. I also smashed reject and just noted "I am not giving a pick upgrade for a goalie on one of the worst teams in the league, however good the goalie, for a solid goalie on a 3 time cup winner with a solid track record. At this point I would not even do it straight up. I am sorry but I do not want Price. Its like having Varlamov last year. We both know with the loss categories he is going to ruin my team since there is no light at the end of the tunnel for Montreal this year"

In any case, I forgot about it until a week later, Habs got blown out by LA. When I saw this offer I smashed accept pretty quick. Burns and the Sharks are also off to a super slow start, but I have more confidence in Burns Scoring than I do in Price being more valuable than Crawford this year.

All of us are friends in this league and it was him beating me in the finals last year.

I know I've been saying some bad things about the Habs lately as well but they're nowhere near as bad a team as Colorado was last season. It's not a great team but it's not an AHL level team either, so they'll turn things around somewhat at some point. If nothing else, their GM and coach get fired and that will give them a spark to improve. In a vacuum, I still consider Price to be the best goalie in the world, so I have lots of faith in him turning things around at some point.
