Burns?

Where is Brent Burns?
2 assists and a -5 throughout 6 games.
I drafted him 7th overall in a keeper league (in sig) so I've been feeling like I messed up since I could've taken Eichel, Kucherov, Tarasenko, Laine, Ovi, etc. instead.

Obviously I will wait it out since I wouldn't get a proper value for him right now. If he comes back into form should I trade him? Just wondering all of your thoughts on him this season and for the next few.

Its too early.... having said that, I was a huge seller of Burns in the off season. San jose way too old, burns no spring chicken. His plus minus will suffer as the team is worse, even if he puts up points.

I sold high thinking he has a year or 2 left max; unless he turns it around, he could prove me right earlier. If you still own him though, you absolutely have to hang on to him at this point and hope for the best...don't sell low

He will go on a run don't stress too much but to be totally honest I wouldn't have taken Burns over Eichel, Kucherov, or Tarasenko in your format with a new keeper draft. Based on age and more consistent scoring from forwards. The other problem is you likely won't be able to trade him without a significant add for one of those type of guys as his age and San Jose's likely decline will scare alot of people off.

Burns is still a stud just having a slow start. See John Tavares...

Received Niklas Backstrom and Jake Muzzin.

I had added Buff, Letang (off season), OEL, Barrie and Giordano (last two weeks) in separate deals so felt that if I could ever suffer the loss it is now. I had Jeff Carter and my fwds were thin so hoping Backstrom gives me a boost up front and I am deep enough at D to carry on. Not loving it, but there does seem to be a bit of a decline happening. Kinda reminds me of Green's 2 magic years.

Of note, they are rolling with 2 D on the PP and seem to be giving more time for PP 2, so maybe things are slowing down in SJ for Burns.

He helped me to 2nd place last year. I had him ranked behind both Karlsson and Hedman this year, and closer to second tier guys like Shattenkirk and Hamilton. He won't continue to be this bad, but he won't be last year's beast.

I beg to differ. I think burns goes 65 plus. All of San Jose came out flat. He still looks good on the ice, has a gifted offensive mind, and knows how to get like a Kagillion pucks to the net. Yeah, 70 plus might be pushing it but he is head over heals better than Hamilton and Shatty.

4 points in 7 games. Not sexy yet, but you can see how fast this can change and his mildly slow start will be forgotten
