I don't know if you want to call it a slow start but why only 3 points from Atkinson so far and yet he leads, along with Panarin, the forwards in ice time. Is there anything to worry about or give it time and he eventually would get to that 60pt mark. Also, he is in a contract year.

the fact that Atkinson doesn't have a single assist seems very unlucky to me. his pp time is good, his zone starts are good, etc. but I haven't seen a Columbus game this year so I can't say for sure what is going on....

He's getting more ice time than he did last year. Outside of the crazy win streak and power play run that the blues had last season wasn't he fairly average? I never really bought into the hype last year and think he's more of a 45-55 point guy going forward.
That said some people that know alot more about hockey than I do believe he's better than that. I'm just not buying and never really was.

Age 27 = typical prime year last year. I can't imagine he'll repeat that.
I do agree that ice time, current line mates and PP1 should improve on his current production. 50 pt forward. 25-25 guy if things go well.

Last year was propped up by a ridiculous 1st half pace that Atkinson has never shown he has the talent to continue to produce at. He had a lackluster second half which was a major correction. I think he is a 50-pt player.

Noticed he's also playing a different role on the PP this year. Panarin took his spot on the left side/point, and Atkinson is playing more in front of the net, so I suspect he's handling the puck a lot less on the PP.

I was expecting 60 points playing with Panarin, but I started thinking it won't happen unless the team goes crazy winning streak like last year.

Last year was an outlier for Atkinson IMO. I doubt he ever sees 60 + again. 50-55. Maybe close to 60. My two bits.

I just swapped Atkinson/Hartman for Arvidsson/Namestnikov. Pretty pleased with that. The numbers for Atkinson and Arvidsson were pretty close but reading this thread I'm glad I made the swap. The other GM also feels Namestnikov is a sell high...
