Default Jesse Puljujarvi - I'll Rep

How is he regarded on these forums? He was drafted 4th overall in 2016 and was regarded as a steal. On Dobber's prospects list, I see that he is ranked 9th with Jost and Labanc just ahead of him. He has definitely fallen, given he only had 8 pts in 28 nhl games last year, and got sent back to the ahl to start this year. Looks like he has 2 assists in 3 games there.

I've already got Boeser as my rookie I drafted going into this year, but JP is a free agent and just wonder if he is a guy worth rostering at all, or will be when he gets called up?

I've got a guy like Kreider who I claimed recently and isn't producing, and I just acquired Lee in a bigger trade which improves my forward depth. These are obviously just bench guys for me, and if I drop Kreider I can activate Boeser, and then put JP into rookie slot.

Usually by the end of the year, there are teams looking for good rookies. There are still some others available on free agency, like Barzal, Sergachev, and so on but he's obviously a guy who people may consider trading for if they happen to like him more than others.

Is there any point in adding JP, or better to hold off and just monitor the situation? I heard comparisons to Selanne before, but that's obviously very lofty.

In a keeper or dynasty preferably, high value. He is just developing slower than most top end guys, but he will get there. On this season, I would not expect much if anything.

Think you answer your own question - with the rookies on the wire it’s better to be vigilant and pounce at the right time than roster someone now who isn’t likely to do anything this side of Christmas (if that IMO)

To me he's buy low right now. He is developing slower then other top end talent. He just need to learn English.
Communication seems like the only drawback so far... He has all the tools to make it. But ya if your not in a long term keeper his value isn't much.
I see him making an impact maybe in 2 years 2020ish (also assuming he'll be top 6 minutes as well) I think he suits McDavids game "so I'm hoping he'll line up with him but who knows" He is still more of a playmaker then goal scorer though.

I would skip Barzel since ur goal heavy cats. Sergachev would be closer and rather cheap pick up if you don't want to wait to long.
Maybe even Eeli Tolvanen (might take over Hartnell, Scott spot!?)

    My own speculation of course

Someone dropped Puljajarvi in our league and I'm trying to decide if I have room to pick him up. Is there Anyone worth dropping or is he staying in the A for this year too?

I think he'll almost certainly get called up at some point this season. I definitely don't see breakout this season. When he was up he didn't get a ton of minutes and struggled defensively.

When/if he gets called back up and what his situation is will determine if he's worth the add and likely you'll just want to stream him when he's playing in a good situation or if the oilers have a good schedule and are rolling.
    Set roster weekly in H2H (Mon to Sun) - 16 Teams - start 6F, 3D, and 1G per week - Keep 2

    Points: 2 G / 2 A / 1 PPG / 1 PPA / 1 Hat Trick / 1 SHG / 1 SHA / 1 GWG - 3 Goalie Win / 2 Goalie Loss in SO or OT / 5 goalie SO

    C. McDavid, N. Kucherov, R. O'Reilly, J. Schwartz, J. Toews, J. Huberdeau, T. Toffoli, M. Granlund

    Defense:
    B. Burns, J. Klingberg, R. Josi, J. Slavin

    Goalie:
    J. Binnington

Yeah, but this is a keep 14. I am leading the league right now and I rarely get the chance at top prospects. I realize that he may not be a keeper now, but once he's called up someone in our league will grab and hold on to him. He could either be a great trade chip or a possible depth keeper if he ends up playing top six when he is back up.

for your prospect slot - Boeser > Puljujarvi. 3A last night and he's a shoot first guy. brace yourself for 50+pts this season from him

Pulj needs to start consistently taking over games and being the best player on the ice every night. Looks like the demotion to the AHL is messing with his head a bit and hasn't re-adjusted yet. I would think we're talking Jan/Feb before he gets called back up at the earliest.
