Default Alex Galchenyuk for Dylan Strome

Hi guys i own ALex Galchenyuk as a keeper in my hockey pool. One point for a goal, one point for an assist is the scoring criteria. Galchenyuk is one of my under 25 year old keepers (each team has 3). I got offered Dylan Strome and im tempted to accept the offer. I think Strome, eventhough he's fine tuning his game in the ahl at the moment, is going to be a better asset in my pool. Do you guys think I should accept the deal?

    Galchenyuk > Strome

If you're going to move Galchenyuk prior to his 25th birthday make sure you get a better return.

Strome could become a better asset than Chucky, but when? how long till that happens ? you'd be taking a solid 55pts out of your line up this year without getting much if anything production wise in return. Chucky's not old enough to be a sell of chip in a rebuild either. IMO... this would be bad asset management. It could be 2-5 years before Strome starts hitting 60pts.

I like Galchenyuk more as well, but this would be an interesting real life deal to see discussed.

As with ALL Strome’s, I’ve adopted a prove it to me mentality. I’ll take the other guy until they can prove their worth.

The issue you have is the main stream media seen to have really soured on him - even to the extent that some are now questioning his on ice vision to ever achieve his potential but if that is the return I’d probably prefer to hold the depreciating asset and hope something brings it back

"This" is right. And it's easy to forget Galchy has already scored 30 in this league, and pre-injury last year was on a PPG pace for over 1/3 of the season. This guy has proven himself as an NHL player, Strome has not (and frankly I thought Strome looked mediocre in the last World Juniors).

The only thing that kind of bothers me about Galchenyuk is how he is STILL struggling to establish himself. The argument for him all the time is the fact that he manages to do so much with so little ice time and his efficiency is really good yadda yadda but I'm a little off-put by the fact that he continues to struggle to gain some form of consistency and gets moved up and down lines and from C to wing to C over and over again.

There's a lot of volatility that comes with Galchenyuk. But yeah I just don't like the Stromes.

If Galchy goes elsewhere, where they more easily tolerate his one-dimensional play, he'll explode. They'll give him tons of pp time and he'll have 65%+ off zone starts, and explode. Not to mention his off-ice antics and partying will get less attention outside Montreal...

Galchenyuk's issues stem more from ham fisted ass clowns managing and coaching the Habs than they do from Galchenyuk's abilities. Even Julien has been mis-using him. I'm sure after this one game against LA where the lines went into the blender and no one but Byron produced he'll be back on the 4th line or something stupid like that. How MT and Julien don't get that players need some consistent time playing together on a set line to see what exactly they have boggles my mind. There is a general air of impatience around this team that drives panic moves all the time. Ross's comments on Galchenyuk's value, should he be traded, will go way up are bang on. Look at how Julien handled Seguin for the Bruins....DOH!!!
