Agree - It's already looking like Chad Johnson is taking a few starts away from Lehner. Buffalo may not be quite as far along as we thought for this year...Carolina looks good. Darling for me.

Yes, I would take Darling over Lehner, especially with Lehner's bad start, but even before that

lehner and the sabres will have a few good stretches but I'd take the more consistent route with darling / canes .

I can also see Johnson wrestling the 1a job from lehner if he backstops the sabres to a few emotional wins

Yeah, we saw Chad take the reigns from Elliot, now he will try the same trick in Buffalo. That said, we are still a ways away from having that happen this season. Johnson has not stolen any games yet, nor has he looked any better than Lehner to this point. Buffalo is just coming out flat and the entire team needs to regroup.

As well, Cam Ward has had the best start so far for Carolina and it could be argued he will wrestle starts away from Darling.

I will dissent from the group and suggest holding Lehner for now. I think once the dust settles in Buffalo Lehner will be the better fantasy asset this season of the two.

Full disclosure of course, I own Lehner, but I still objectively feel this way. Hehe.

Regrettably given my team allegiance, I'd also drop Lehner for Darling.

The Sabres do remain a work in progress. The top half of the lineup is pretty solid, but there are some serious holes deeper in the lineup. In my opinion, until that changes, it's going to result in the Sabres continually exposing their goalies to unfavorable situations as (a) the bottom pairings/lines fail to play fundamentally sound hockey that minimizes the risk of unnecessary turnovers and odd-man rushes; and/or (b) the top lines and pairings get huge minutes in close games and fatigue (in-game or season-long) inevitably takes its toll, leading to defensive lapses that can occur when players are out of gas.
