Before the move the Leafs 4th line had a 20G scorer on it who was getting 15min TOI/game this yr. Marner this yr has 15:41min TOI/game. So a 2 shift difference really. Marner will garner an easier matchup, get PP time, and maybe even PK time. Too talented to be a long term move.

Even a demotion from the "2nd line" to the "4th line" isn't that big of a change on TOI with the Leafs

Eric is right. There is simply no chance this sticks. They are just sending him a message to be more defensively responsible. He has 4 points in 5 games. Any Marner owner should not be worried in the least. If you can find a Marner owner in your league who is worried, take advantage of his foolishness asap!

At least one of them has to. And Babcock is a smart coach and been through it before... so if he realizes it he is not going to risk a playoffs spot by continuing to play the kid if he sees a sophomore slump.

Babcock: Let’s not read too much into it. Their line wasn’t going. Tie goes to the veteran. How’s that? He just happens to be the kid on the line. That’s it.

This doesn’t worry me In The least. Infact, from a fantasy perspective I’m willing to bet he nabs some decent points for as long as this lasts. Would love to see a line with Kadri centering Marner and Brown eventually.

4 points in 5 games. Being overshadowed by Matthews otherworldly performances so far. He's a 2 point game away from being on pace for 82 points... 3 point game away from being on pace for top 10 finish. Reeelax.

Wouldn't be surprised if he's back on the 2nd line by the 2nd period tomorrow.
