Pavelski for S. Weber - pts only

10 team league and team in sig. Some of my young guys have not progressed. I don't really love the idea of acquiring Weber as he is heavily goal-dependent and plays on a weak offense. He is also in decline. However, he is still the main man when it comes to PP1 and ice time and it's still Shea Weber.

Conversely, Pavelski is as consistent as they come and plays on a good offense.

Would you guys pull the trigger?

I own Pavelski in a similar league as yours. Would never move him for Weber. I'd hang onto him unless you're getting a d man such as OEL, Hamilton, Shattenkirk (maybe), Josi, Ristolainen (maybe). Basically any D man in the top 10 i'd move him for and Weber is far from that at this point.

I think that the big guns on San Jose are having a slow start, hell even Burns only has one assist, but I think that is all it is. A slow start. San Jose is trying to configure their new line up and find the sweet spot. Pavs will still put up over 60 points. He is 33 but an incredibly healthy 33 who started in the NHL late. Not a lot of wear and tear on his body for his age. I think Pavelski's floor is around 60 and his ceiling is around 70. Do with that info what you will. They are only 3 games into an 82 game season.

I would not trade Pavelski for Weber. Hoffman is closer. I might consider that.

Indeed Wonko and thanks for your feedback. I am definitely looking at this as a whole and not just this season. Last year Pavs put up 68, good for a spot in the top 25 or so in scoring. Weber's 42 pts are in the top 20 in D scoring for last year and I don't see a whole lot of up-trend in his game, though it is still Weber. Floor 40, ceiling 50...

The D market is tight in our league and mine has a bit of a hole, so looking to fill that through a trade.

I like Hoffman slightly over Weber. If you could move Zuccarello or Toffoli for Weber I think that would be good for you. You can probably get a great return on Zuccs hot start.

I'd hold Pavelski over anyone mentioned. He's going to get his points this year, just be patient.

He changed the offer to Weber and Puljujarvi for Pavs and Montour.

I still think it's a NO. I lose two NHLers and get back one. I'm also having a tough time getting a read on Jesse's NHL viability.

I like Hoffman slightly over Weber. If you could move Zuccarello or Toffoli for Weber I think that would be good for you. You can probably get a great return on Zuccs hot start.

I tried the Zucc angle. Problem is he has Kreider and Buchnevich already so that distracted him.

Problem is he doesn't know what the + is and neither do I. He is surprised I won't take Weber for Hoffman, but I would do it in a heartbeat if I felt Weber wasn't on a steady downslide but I think he is. Too goal-reliant on a weak offense with a lot of physical responsibility. I also think the Habs's PP is going to be meh.

I will try the Doughty angle. I don't know that he bites but hey..

As for the Weber deal, not sure I want to take on Koivu.. That is definitely the sticking point though... to know what the fair return was. If this was 2 years ago, Hoffman for Weber is such a no-brainer. Now, I don't know that Weber is good for more than the 42 he posted last year.
