    Hi all,

Wondering your opinions on what the best credits cards are out there in terms of value, both from a no annual rate perspective and with an annual rate perspective. I'm currently using a 1% cashback card but I'm just wondering if there's better deals to be had.

My general interests include restaurants and I wouldn't be super opposed to cards with perks for travel. I'm based in Ontario.

    Thanks!

My PNC Bank Everyday Rewards Visa gives me 4% back on gas and 2% on grocery stores and restaurants. My Discover It is changes up their rebates but for the last year they have giving the incentive of a rebate balance double in November which will be a couple hundred for me. Plus, the Discover has an anti-ID theft program were they will notify you if any suspicious activity takes place with your SS number. And the Discover card has some nice theft protection and warranty protection policies for items that you buy with the card. I am very pleased with both cards overall.

I have a cash back card I use. I used to have a gas points credit card and I got up to $500-ish worth of points. That one was good, got cheaper gas and like “double points” I think.

If you look for deals or get your bank representative to keep you updated on “waiving the first months fee” cards, that’s typically the best. I need a 2nd card and I was told to wait for October/November to see what deals my bank has. I think they like getting good deals out around Xmas shopping times.

PS Daydream, he’s in Ontario, PNC isn’t here I don’t think, and Discover isn’t accepted at a lot of places.

Here's a link to Moneysense magazine who run comparisons for most Canadian credit cards every year.

    http://www.moneysense.ca/spend/credi...it-cards-2017/

I am big fans of the Westjet RBC World Elite Mastercard and the TD Cash Back Infinite Card (this card was released after the article in the link was done).

Currently getting great results with Canadian Tire Options Master Card. That's because the store and fuel pump are located within my commute and I also buy stuff from CT often.

This is the opposite of what I would suggest. I have zero interest in what any of those shills have to say.

+1 to the Moneysense comparison someone posted above.

I'm glad you started this thread though. It seems the cards I have that used to be considered the best no longer are, and it may be time to replace them.

On a side note, for purchases in other currencies, I highly suggest the Chase Amazon card. One of the only cards in Canada (and I believe the only free one) to waive the foreign transaction fee other cards charge. It's the only card I use when outside of Canada or when ordering things online in USD.

CIBC Visa Dividend. No fees, and 1% credit on card (from all purchases) just in time for Christmas. I pay it off biweekly and get a couple hundred back every year.

Unless you have a business all these cards are pretty useless.

Not sure if you've every used the tool by the Financial Consumer Agency of Canada?

Just type in what you are looking for and it spits out things that match what you are looking for; it's very comprehensive.

A no fees card that gives you 1% IS awful.

Invest in your spending and you should be able to get more than what these companies are offering

I'm halfway towards the cost of my next snowblower thanks to this card ^^

another easy way to get freebies if you shop at any loblaws chains often you can get a PC points card that isnt even a credit card ; you just let cashier swipe it then pay via whatever method afterwards .I've racked up at least 1000$ over the years on this card . The system notices items you buy often and you get rewarded more at times + theres obviously other incentives to try other things in exchange for more pc points .
Theres a certain rye bread that I like so I bought 8 loaves monday and received 2,000 pc points (which is approx 2 bucks)
