Wow, was this expected? I haven't followed the Sens much, but to me this seems out of nowhere. What are they looking for? Did Turris want out? Can anyone shed light on this?

I think article says the reason

Turris is 28 and wants a long-term deal. Ottawa not prepared to sign him into his late 30s.

I can see both sides of this. Turris wants max term because this will be his final big payday and he signed such a bargain contract the last time but the Senators don't want to sign him until he's 36 (almost 37). If Turris doesn't want to come down to the 5-6 year range, it's his right to find some other team willing to offer him max term. Considering the amount of stupid long-term contracts we've seen in the NHL, I think he'll find that deal somewhere.

But yeah, replacing Turris will be really difficult. White and Brown are probably a few years away from reaching the level where Turris is right now, so they probably need a short-term replacement outside the organization.

Turris would be a great fit in Nashville centering that 2nd line, pushing Bonino to the 3rd line where he belongs.

I don't think he has a NMC/NTC, so how funny would it be if he was dealt to Arizona! Talk about full circle.

Where do I see him possibly landing if he really was to be dealt? Maybe Montreal? I could also see Columbus or Nashville. Perhaps Anaheim.

I straight up don't believe this. It is pure 100% speculation based on nothing but observing Turris's age.
Nothing wrong with discussion, but I don't find what Darren Dreger thinks is likely to be too concerning. Even the local Ottawa TSN reporters do not agree: https://twitter.com/DarrenDreger/sta...69910618533888

Because Melnyk is super cheap and doesn't want to pay $5M+ to too many players. Expect Phaneuf, Brassard, and Hoffman to be moved in 1-3 years too

I don't know why anyone would sign him long term. He hasn't exactly been Mr Consistent.

It has little to do with Melnyk not wanting to sign guys over $5mil and more to do with coordinating the trucks required to bring Karlsson all the money in 2019. We only have $4mil in cap space, and have to think about getting Ceci, Stone, and Turris next year with Karlsson on the horizon the following year. Someone's going to be moved at some point.

I can see this happening given the team's internal budget.

My question is what is Turris asking for? To be paid like a #1 C? If so Big No.

that's not true. Sens have re signed every key free agent...if they were so cheap they wouldnt have signed Anderson

turris would be about term. Cant sign him for 7 years. Click bait title though. Turris isn't guaranteed to be moved
