Not sure what you mean by this. If they were gonna do that, he would not have been sent down. He'll be down there for a couple weeks at least

going -5 last game will do that, going to AHL will benefit him in the long run.

Not a big deal. Let the kid adjust to the pro game instead of ruining him early on.

This is what I was already thinking in May - the transition from the Q to the NHL is so difficult to make, especially for a D-man. I think this is important to remember in the future as well - if a stud prospect like Chabot can't make the direct jump, don't expect many others to be able to do it either. But it's also important to remember that this is not a bad thing for him at all and doesn't mean he's somehow a worse player than he was a week ago. He just needs some time in the AHL to adjust to pro hockey.

I'm not saying Chabot can't do it but the odds seem to be against it. That's a long time since it happened last time. The Q is such a different league compared to the NHL, especially for a D-man.

I don't think anybody is saying this is a bad thing? And in the long run this is the best for his development. Especially now with Karlsson injured it was beginning to sound like people were going to be expecting Chabot to carry the offense from the back end..and likely woulda ruined him.

Well, only the guys who drafted Chabot in fantasy leagues think it's a bad thing and only those who own him in keeper/dynasty leagues (and Sens fans) give a crap about his development.

I do agree with you though, playing for scarface (whom I think is a very good coach) isn't all sunshine and rainbows. He holds his players accountable, so if he feels it's best for Chabot to start in the minors, then I'm certain he won't be down there for long - the kid is just so full of potential. He'll dominate the AHL and then get recalled soon enough I think.

I was just preparing for the people who will soon start saying Chabot is a bust. It always happens when someone is expected to make the NHL team and doesn't do that. Most of the time, it's not a bad thing at all but some people don't have the patience to deal with that.

...ya..I see that. And my post wasn't meant to be a direct response to your post ahead of it more of a post to say somewhat the same as you post here does.

..I traded for em with the hopes he'd play a good portion of the year sure. But I'm in this project for the long haul. I was disappointed yes but not surprised

This is pretty much a rite of passage. Formulaic.
The same sort of thing happened to Karlsson as I recall, and you see it all the time. Teaches the young stars humility.

Chabot will go down, play well...play really well....get a call up down the road. Might be two weeks..might be two months. If he comes back up and impresses (which he probably will), he'll stick around. Wash, rinse repeat. The game ends when Dorion tells Chabot to find a place to live.

Prediction: By the end of November.
