Default Steve Mason/Connor Hellebuyck or Brian Elliott

Draft is tomorrow. We count wins, save percentage and shutouts. Head to head league. 15 teams.

By the time I pick with the 8th overall, I'm thinking Mason and Elliott will be the best goalies available (and I need another one). Which one do you think will be better this season? At the moment, I'm leaning towards Mason (I'm thinking Winnipeg will be a bit better). However, if I choose him, I'm hoping to snag Hellebuyck later on in the draft.

Should I do that or do you think Elliott will be the safer bet?

EDIT: Ignore my signature. League has changed.

I think Mason is more likely to fall to your next pick, but I like him a little better. How close is your next pick after 8?

I pick 1st overall, 8th overall and 14th overall (3 picks in the first round). There are very few goalies available in the draft. I can't take the chance.

Scott Darling, Cory Schneider, Steve Mason, Brian Elliott and James Reimer. That's what's left. Darling and Schneider will be gone before I pick at 8.

You have the right plan in place, take Mason at 8 and target Hellebuyck later in the draft. Should be a good handcuff option this year with a solid D in front of them. Just make sure you bench Mason on Wednesday vs. Toronto
