    Default Granlund vs Hall

    Keeper league points only.

I,m have difficultly in who i should protect.
    Case for each player:
    Hall-NJ
    • He is injury prone
    • He plays for NJ, they wont score as much
    • Playing with Hischier will it be an advantage
    • 53pts last year not sure what kind of rebound is to be expected. Guessing 63pts

    Granlund-Min

    • Can he do it again (69pts)
    • Is he the real deal.

It seem like i have more question regarding Hall but it still doesn't make this decision any easier.

Any feed back will be helpful.

    Thanks

Hall for me. New Jersey is an improving team and Hall is a big part of that. He may have scored 53 pts last year but that was over 72 games (not missing nearly as many games lately as earlier in his career. He played all 82 the season before that) so that put him on a 60pt pace. Your estimate of 63 pts might not be too far off.

Granlund for me. Hall doesn't have the support/talent around him that Granlund does. And not just the forwards. Look at team D and who is moveing the puck up ice. I see Hall as a 60-65pt player and Granlund as 75+ this season and for a few more based on how these teams are built right now.

I own both in a points-only dynasty, and I understand your dilemma.

I think I value Hall higher for the reasons Axeman lists. Higher upside IMO. Room to grow. Has had close to elite season before.
But to be honest, when I draft my one-year early next month, I might pick Granlund first.

There's a lot of doubt about Granlund's year last year, but to me -- the reason for the increase (Boudreau) isn't changing, so why should the expectations?
    So...

Keeper league: I still value Hall higher
Next season: MUCH closer -- probably Granlund by a hair. But they are close enough that I wouldn't be disappointed either way.

Shooting percentage for Granlund last season was a little above average. Hall's was a little below. Will they correct or are these settling in to career norms? If you count SHP Granlund had 4 to Hall's zero. When players are so close I usually fall back on supporting cast and NJ is still a really bad team. They are not a playoff team and barely have an NHL level D corps. I think it more likely that Hall ends up centered by Zacha or Henrique. Meh. And, I don't know what platform you're on, but in Yahoo Granlund also has RW eligibility.

    Grandlund wins for me.

i protected both in keep 9 (1G) multicat...i think they are very close to each other atm. Hall's name still gives him an edge in value but on ice im dont think there is any significant gap. if pressed to make decision i would probably go with Hall.

Hall - last season he had nothing going for him, yet still produced at a 65 point level. Meanwhile, I think Granlund's pace was unsustainable due to Minny's flat Ice Time structure. I'm taking Hall here, definitely.

Hall for me as well. Better player, better production track history, still in his prime. Yes, injury concern is there but I'll take that risk.
I can't promise I'll try but I'll try to try.

    Taylor Hall:
    3.4Sog/game (my guess) x 75games (my guess) = 255sog
    9.2% Shooting % (my guess) x 255 = 23.46goals

Taylor typically gets 60% of his points from assists = 37.5A
    23.5G/37.5A = 61pts in 75games (67pts/82games)

    Granlund:
    2.2Sog/game x 82 = 180SOG (career high)
    Regresses to 12% shooting x 180 = 21.6goals
    65% of points are assists = 40A
    21.6G/40.4A = 62pts in 82 games

I think I also gave Granlund some favourable numbers.

Hall oddly in a points only.

Both have some uncertainties. I'd go Hall and chance the injury because of his prove pedigree over a longer time period. He is the guy in NJ and Nico is going to help. As long as he stays somewhat healthy Hall is going to outperform Granlund imo.

Tough call, and I can only imagine how much clearer this choice will be AFTER this season. As many have said, Hall has the pedigree and name value even though Granlund has the better linemates and recent production. I'd probably choose Hall but it could end up looking foolish.

Gun to my head I take Granlund but it's very close and with Granlund being so unproven I can see why people would want Hall over him.
