Smith does have a habit of playing very well the first season on his new team, but Martinez fill categories quite well. I also think he's a late bloomer and has supplanted Muzzin as the non-Doughty option for blueline offense. I'd go with Martinez.
I'm short D depth and have excess F depth. Don't want to do anything fancier than plug the gap. I do have a bit of cap room.
Martinez -- LHD, 30, $4mm, 4 more years, fpts (1484, 2229, 2105)
R. Smith -- F, 26, $5mm, 5 more years, fpts (1778, 2307, 1604)
I guess age is a consideration, though I think Martinez will age well and was a bit of a late bloomer. My timeline is 3 years from now. Reilly's contract is unquestionably worse. Reilly and LGK?
Thanks all.

A-Mart for me.
Assuming there is roster allocation, you really need to consider the point-differential of each of these guys compared to a waiver-wire level F or D.
I think A-Mart would be significantly better than wwD than RS would be compared to wwF.
