Im about 10 days from my 1st dynasty hockey draft and was wondering if theres any advice out there? Is it normal for a goalie run to happen in dynasty drafts? I know the key is youth, but i also know to not let good vets pass me bye either. Am i right for hoping that a goalie run happens so i can draft better skaters with only 30% of categories going to goalies?
This will be a 12 team draft with the following categories...

You are wise to think about how your categories factor into league scoring. There will be goalie runs, but one other thing to note is you have SV% as a category, not SV. Really you only have 10% of your scoring based on goalie workload (Wins), so you can use a strategy of going for the Saros and Grubauer types, focusing more on the all-important skaters. Don't ignore guys in their 30s - look to get one of them for every one or two pre-peak skater you get. Strike a balance and don't reach.

Separate your draft list into tiers. That should keep you from reaching and it also gives you a good feel on how many players in a given tier are left and thus you know which position is the most likely priority as your draft spot comes up each round. Be as objective as you can in creating your tiers, again, to avoid reaching.
