Hello all,
FOR FIRST LEAGUE IN SIG - it's not updated, please see table below.
I have made a few trades in the off-season and am now looking at cutting excess salary. That's not an easy task, but I've put together a table with my players, including their salaries for the 17-18 season, Points projected by Dobber and Points per million. FYI, the bottom row is the total points of the best 12F, 6D and 2G.
Salary Cap is 85M, so I need to cut 12.32M.
At the moment, I'm kind of leaning toward cutting Oshie, Maroon and Holden which would lead to a 44 points decrease while cutting 12.4M.
Do you see any other way to maximize points while being under the 85M cap? Any insight is appreciated .
Thank you!

(No I don't have a hockey problem...)
My list was....drumroll please....the same as EB's. For sure not Maroon.

8.000 Oshie, for sure
3.500 Nelson
1.800 Holden
Yes, this seems like the guys.
I like the above ideas. I wouldn't be against dropping Kessel if you could put the cap space to good use.
I wouldn't want to drop Maroon because he has a good shot to play with McJesus and he has a really low salary. But you have to drop Oshie.

This may sound counter intuitive, but when I get in cap trouble I like to trade for more cap. IE trade Kessel and Oshie for (say) Kopitar and X, knowing that you are going to drop X. Take someone else's problem off their hands then drop the dead weight that the other GM couldn't do because they think, "I have get some sort of value from player X". Then drop X player like the original GM should have. I find GMs seek you out looking to 'help' your cap situation. Flip the script on them. You are already considering dropping 'Oshie' player. Make what looks like weird trade offers knowing full well it is better than losing someone for nothing.

Oshie, nelson and Lindell for me. That’s $13.7m
Oshie Nelson and Beaulieu for me, Lindell is just scratching the surface to me...i think he can reach around 40 if not this year then next
It is indeed very counterintuitive... say Kessel will produce a little less than Kopitar, but is 4M cheaper... why would I want to give a player with better points/million when I can simply drop oshie and be more "efficient" with my cap? I feel winning is about maximizing value per dollar and players producing at a 5.5pt/million rate are far from that... Could you elaborate on your theory?
Thanks to everyone, I went ahead and shopped nelson and holden and got a pretty good return!
How did you get the table in there? Nice table.
