Bishop, by a pretty wide margin - look up the Rask vs. Bishop thread to see my post on what happens to teams the first year Hitchcock is the coach (hint - it's good for the goalies on those teams).
14 team points only head to head cap league
Start 1 G per weekly head to head matchup
W= 2 pts, OTL= 1pt, SO= 5pts
Slight difference in cap hit. Bishop $4.9mil, Smith $4.25. Every dollar counts in a cap league.
I should have the opportunity to draft either Bishop or Smith, seeing what's on the Free Agent list. I know there's a lot of hype and rebound hope around Bishop with Hitch behind the bench, Methot added, etc.. I'm not saying I disagree
The Flames have one of the top D corps around, yet Smith is consistently perceived in a lesser light. Yes he's come out of purgatory in AZ, I would think team wise though Calgary and Dallas could be interchangeable. Can't Smith put up just as good fantasy numbers??? Crystal ball gazing I know.....Opinions appreciated!! Thx

Gotta give the edge to Bishop by a significant amount. He has proved he can be a top tier goalie for a good team in the past.
I know Hitch will improve that d corps but the Flames d corps doesn't need any input to be better IMO. With almost 750k saved, and for one year, I lean Smith (I also see Lack as more of a back up than Lehtonen by virtue of contract so should also see more starts)
Experience is the teacher of all things.
Smith does have the better D in front of him but Bishop is the better goalie.

In regards to Dallas having the weaker defense, on any given night I would expect Bish to be more capable of stealing a game than Smith. I just don't see the two anywhere near the same overall talent level. Bish has the offense in front of him, what might not be too bad of a defense, IMO the better coach, and the fact that he's coming back home to Texas where he wanted to be. He graduated HS here, and won an NAHL championship here setting all kinds of records. LOL...Smith just wanted to be anywhere but Phoenix. Intangibles matter.
Bishop is worth the extra coin. Both goalies come with red flags, though I feel they will both do well. But I think Bishop has more talent, so him.
