Was last year a fluke? The Athletic did a great piece to look closer at Mrazek's season last year to try and explain the dip in performance: https://theathletic.com/87209/2017/0...016-17-season/

The article seems to suggest that it was a combination of increased high-danger shots, bad luck, poor performances and well, the Red Wings defence being the Red Wings defence.

Maybe the reputational damage from these accusations of "bad attitude" is done and Ken Holland has already decided to let his last contract year run out warming the bench before he becomes a UFA.

In any case, I'll be curious to see how this plays out for Mrazek because I think he can still be an average NHL starter (like the article suggests).

Well, he wasn't protected in the expansion draft and Detroit is on record (http://www.freep.com/story/sports/nh...ies/502055001/) as saying they want Howard to be prepared to play 50+ games. Since he's an RFA this summer he'll likely end up elsewhere for 2018-19, but whether that elsewhere is the NHL or KHL is a big if.

He's a buy low and pray right now. I certainly wouldn't invest much into him if he's available in your leagues though.

I think he's too good of a goalie not to bounce back in some way .

Intereting article. I am expecting a bounceback.

I have been super high on Mrazek since first seeing him play at the World Juniors. He has been a big let down lately but he won't be as bad as he was last year. Having said that, it doesn't seem like Detroit management/coaching staff are too pleased with him so I don't know how many starts he'll be getting. I've took him multiple times in the past and have been burned, so I am personally done with him. I would only be using him as a third goalie on my fantasy teams.
