i think even last training camp teammates thought lupul was ready to play. i remember kadri telling reporters he thought lupul was good to go. its not a full year later and he's still failing the physical? id like to know more...

Ya, he called out the Leafs management and called them cheaters for the way they circumvent the LTIR. Apparently he said he didn't fail a medical. The Leafs simply don't want to roster him and his contract.

I know it's unfair to Lupul, if true, but come on... collecting 5 mil and you don't even have to go to work ?! That's a dream scenario for most employees.

There are people out there that aspire for more than being lazy and gaming the system. I'd go insane if I stayed home and did nothing. Plus this doesn't help his value on his next contract if he were to try to keep playing hockey.

I think complaining on social media is what killed his next contract, assuming his age and made-of-glass reputation didn't already do that.

If there's any wrongdoing here then he should speak out. Other teams can interpret that whatever way they want.

And I disagree 100% ... If there's any wrongdoing, he should go the club. Talk to Lou and Shanny. These are people that will do right by him.

Why would that help anything? They have the Robidas Island reputation for a reason...

The problem for Lupul, and a lot of these guys, is that if they complain, there's nothing to stop a team from buying out a player. So Lupul can either keep quiet and get $5 million, or pass a physical, get bought out for two-third of his contract and make less money (and also lessen his likelihood of getting another NHL contract since he'll be labelled a snitch).

How do we know he didn't already go to them and got no satisfaction so this was the next course of action for him.

Either way, if what he's saying is true (and it wouldn't surprise me at all that it is), then this needs to be addressed.

In reality most if not all players are playing with some kind of permanent damage so if a team would want to "LTIR" a player it won't be that difficult to come up with a reason for a failed physical.

I just look at the results. He deserves the reputation. Leaf homers are welcome to think otherwise.

If Lupul really wanted to play can't The Leafs and him mutually terminate the contract to make him a UFA, then he can sign anywhere, or even in Europe if he's so geared to just play hockey?

Heck, even Semin mutually terminated a contract with the Canadiens once.

Fair enough, but if we're going to speculate, I think "how do we know he didn't go to them" can be easily cancelled out by "how do we know he actually passed his physical?"

I mean, let's be objective for a moment... this isn't exactly a player with a perfect health record. Nor is it a player with a rep for keeping his nose clean on social media.

I think people are sometimes too quick to believe in conspiracy theories and the media is all too happy to jump on reporting such things.

Fair enough on your part too. I do think you are trying to defend the Leafs here more than believe that Lupul could very well be telling the truth though. It's almost like your bias is getting in the way of believe Lupul could actually be revealing something Leafs fans don't want to hear.
