I wonder what the Lupul and Horton physicals are even like. Talk about foregone conclusions.
It is sad that MacArthur failed in that it's tragic that a talented player was robbed of his career. But part of me is relieved he failed since he has the rest of his life to look forward to and this prevents him from a situation where he could enter Savard territory.

Amazing that MacArthur managed to pass his physical to play in playoffs when they needed him but with no additional issues all of a sudden can't. Totally not suspicious at all.

Really sad when a player cannot see the writing on the wall.
Best to go out when you make the call, rather than the medical staff.
Consider Sim Hockey because guys who play shutdown minutes, deflect shots and clear creases build championships. Yet in fantasy they litter the unwanted UFA lists.

In MacArthur's case, who says the physical play in the playoffs wasn't a factor in him failing this year...
He could have been good to go and got shaken up to the point where he wasn't able to get clearance this year. I guess if you do come back, your body has to be able to take the punishment rather than just be symptom free.
Either way, it must be a really sad and frustrating situation for him!

I doubt this is true even though you hear it all the time.
Put yourself in Lupul's shoes for a minute. You are being paid over $5 million for this year regardless of what you do, you have lifetime earnings over $50,000,000 and you have been a hockey player your whole life. Why would you lie about being hurt when you will be 34 years old next week and quickly approaching the end of your potential playing days? You would want to play hockey if you could regardless of what any front office is offering you. You don't need money as you are likely set for your life and that of your children already.
