Using Karlsson
Really really want to get Matthews from his owner. It's doubtful at best but I'd like to know what some of you say about this potential offer. I'm thinking of packaging Karlsson Keller and potentially an early pick. Is this an overpayment or an appropriate offer to what would be a reluctant GM.

Matthews - like McDavid or Crosby - would always require an ovrepayment to acquire. That's why those type of guys rarely ever move in fantasy leagues.
I think that deal is an overpayment, but something like that would be something the owner would at least think about. I wouldn't really want to give up that much.

What are the positional requirements? Depending on that, replacing Karlsson could be much harder than replacing Matthews.

Definitely an overpayment. Karlsson is more valuable in almost any league you could imagine. Wouldn't do it 1for1. If you must have him and are willing to overpay offer just Karlsson before anything else and see what he comes back with.

I'm not going out and getting Mathews - he's a great asset but his owners will attach unrealistic value to him. I'd rather go for Laine because he plays for a lower profile team and has less attached hype, all while likely being able to produce comparable numbers as Matthews.

This! The hype is unreal. I could foresee from the back end Karlsson outscoring Matthews regularly, if not being within 10 points a season on a good year from Auston. Karlsson will be in the 70 to 80 point range for the next 3 years at least and that is where I peg Matthews even though I think some foresee him challenging McDavid for the scoring title.Originally Posted by ericdaoust
