1st round pick for Vatanen
I am about 8 million over my salary cap in a points only league. I posted my predicament a few days ago. I have since been offered Vatanen for my first round draft pick, 7th overall. I was thinking of doing this deal and then dropping Ekblad. Many suggested it is not worth keeping Ekblad in our format based on his 7.5 million cap hit. Vatanen is about 4.5 so this would save me about 3 million. Should I do this deal?

You'd lose some points and a 1st round pick to save $3M? I wouldn't do it - that price is just too high.
Have you tried trading Ekblad to someone who has the cap space to take him? You might get a 'B' level prospect who you could then trade for someone like Vatanen.

No one wants him. His 7.5 cap hit is the problem.

You're better off dropping him and saving your draft pick. Or hold onto him and see what your team looks like after the draft, then make some drops/trades

Dont waste your first rounder. Drop him for someone having a strong camp and hopefully flip him to another gm.
