Default Which young gun to keep?

Hey guys, have to decide who to keep between all these guys.

    Eichel
    Draisaitl
    Pastrnak
    Forsberg
    Gaudreau

One needs to go to because with their cap hits can't keep them all

    Thanks.

    Can't trade one?

If forced to choose, I think Forsberg has the lowest point upside (and since you didn't give any info on your league, that's all I can offer. Next time, give a bit more info!).

Oh, and welcome to the forums!

In anything but a goal slanted league that counts hits and blocked shots I think Forsberg is the low hanging fruit.

If goals are worth double and hits and blocks count I would likely move Gaudreau.

If points only, then I let Forsberg go.

Welcome OP. The more info you provide about your league setup the better answers you will get.

If it were me in my league I'd drop Forsberg if I couldn't trade him first.

Sorry for the limits post. New to this site. My league is a pts league. Salary cap the same as the NHL. Can't get to a comp to actually update my profile and all my whole team in. Was thinking of trading Draisaitl as he will be the #2 centre in Edmonton and makes 8.5 mil. I feel that Johnny hockey and Eichel have the highest pt. upside. Forsberg has the lowest cap hit so that is a plus.

How many can you keep, and what is the team setup (how many F/D/G).
Draisaitl will be just as worth his cap hit as Forsberg. Shop the two of them and Maybe Gaudreau too. Take the best return you can find. I would be happy keeping any of those guys.

At that point, any reason you're not dropping Duchene, or maybe even Keith instead to get under the cap?

We have to keep players for duration of contract. Duchene has 2 more years on contract and Keith has 6 so it's hard to trade those players. Duchene I'm hoping for a bounce back. We can buy out players but again following same format used by NHL and we use AAV when projecting cap hit.

Eichel and Draisaitl are keeps for sure. Even on the second line, Drai will earn his cap hit IMO.

Forsberg is the best bang for your buck from the list so I'd keep him too.

It becomes a toss up between Pastrnak and Gaudreau. Gaudreau has a decent cap hit but I'm not so sure he can return to the 70pt plateau every given year. Pasta is looking for an 8-year deal and I wouldn't be surprised if the AAV hovers around 7.5
With that in mind, I think I'd side with Gaudreau and let Pasta walk here!

I agree with this assessment. Good call.

Sucks losing any of them but I do agree if Pastrnak gets anything close to $8M, he is the worst option from this group.
