Got Karlsson!

After a lot of back and forth I was able to acquire E.Karlsson for the team in my sig. The owners team was thin in a lot of places and was up against the cap. Cap is 75mil with unique contracts (value set by inaugral draft). I'm also tight on the cap but have more wiggle room as skaters with less than 100gp are free and I have D.strome,boeser,keller all looking to have an impact this year (after 100gp its a [email protected] hit so taking on Karls cap won't hamstring me). So the deal was....

I get-E.Karlsson (3yrs@10m)

He gets- Tyjo ([email protected]) C.Parayko ([email protected]) C.Hudon (0 until 100gp) and a 18' 2nd rounder (entry draft)

I think the deal helps both teams as all of the top 20D have a cap charge of 7mil or more. So he got a top 6 pp1 F, a stud Dman in the making on a longer cheaper contract, a prospect that will play at least some this year, a 2nd rounder, and a lil bit of cap relief. I get Karlsson! Thoughts and opinions on the trade???

To be honest I don't think this was a steal. I'd call it a win, but not a steal. I gave up a lot of depth to close the deal and this format is all about depth. The other GM had given up 1,2,3,4 round and jost for karlsson last season. I'd call that a steal. I turned down w.nylander straight up for Parayko earlier because of how valuable cheap dmen are and how hard they are to replace. Having so many NHL ready blue chip prospects is the only reason this deal works for me. I know some would bag on this format for how unconventional it is but I love it. It really shows how cap and format can change a players value from league to league. i truly believe the other GM made his team better short and long term. I also vastly improved even though I'm now depending on a lot of rookies to step up. Cheers to all for thinking I got away with a fleecing. I sure hope it turns out that way. Dudes in my division.

well, that's the thing. You gave up a lot of 'depth' and added the elite Dman to your 'core' TJ, Paryko, Hudon can all be replaced and likely cheaply. If you can find this years Marchessault - you're laughing.
