Good trade for Celts!!
I mean it's basketball, so who cares, but that's a massive trade. Cavs absolutely caved in the Celtics on this one.Trade:
Cavs get: Isaiah Thomas, Jae Crowder, Ante Zizic & unprotected 2018 Nets 1st-rounder
Celtics get: Kyrie Irving

Glad this is over.
Think the Cavs did alright considering they were under the gun. Getting the 1st was bonus. NOW back to hockey ....

It's a good trade for both teams.
From what I've heard, Thomas is pretty cocky dude that believes he deserves a max contact.
I think that sort of personality can exist in CLE... because he can be "Max" alongside LeBron and still not ruffle feathers, the defacto #2.
But... in BOS... with a guy like Ainge & coach Stevens... I think they need to be more "team", and I do believe Irving will play into that role well.
Ultimately, both teams did well.
BOS got the better team player, IMO, and I think they'll get Kyrie to fit in - he'll want to, its going to be huge for him to displace Cleveland.
CLE got the better pieces in total.
And both teams have established an instant rivalry for next 3 years.
Win/win/win. The East FINALLY has something interesting!

12-team Keeper pool, straight points for forwards & dmen. Goalies get: 2 points per win, 3 per shutout, 1 point per assist & 1 point per shootout loss.
League champ in 2013, 2015, 2018, 2020 and 2022.
Top 8 forwards, 5 dmen and 2 goalies count.
We keep 15 players (any position) plus two rookies.
Forwards: Panarin, Ovechkin, Kopitar, Stamkos, Tuch, Rust, Marchessault, Pavelski, Miller, Bertuzzi, Stone, Kakko, Brown, Stankoven, Kovalenko
Defence: Hedman, Fox, Matheson, Thrun, Jiricek
Goalies: Kochetkov, Talbot, Vasilevskiy, Campbell, Schmid
This is a home run for the Cavs given the situation... Kyrie vs Thomas is almost a wash imo - to get all those other young assets is huge.
Kind of surprised Boston offered up so much young talent and prospects for a marginal upgrade at best. Who knows what kind of impact Kyrie will have on the chemistry in Boston, he clearly doesn't want to share the limelight.
Statistically they are somewhat close, but his Airness clearly has the King trumped where it matters most.

Lebron vs Kobe is a much closer comparison IMO...
You are right, people will and do argue it. I bet there are even people who would pick a 22 year old Lebron James over a 22 year old Michael Jordan if they were starting a team from scratch. I believe they would be making a mistake, but that is just my opinion. Greatest of all time will always be just an opinion thing. Personally I think it is clearly Mike based on his flawless finals record and unreal clutchness.
Hard to believe Lebron has never managed to get his FT% above 80... .740 seems pretty low for a superstar, especially on what should be the easiest part of the game to master if you are willing to put in the time and effort.
Last season was the worst of his career at .674. Yikes
