    Default Trading Seguin away

    Seguin for O'Reilly, Hamilton and a 1st

the other GM wants my Seguin. Is it a good price to ask for him or you think I can get more? Its a H2H 16 team full keeper league with yahoo standard cats.

the 1st round pick would probably be a top 5 and its for all the players from the NHL entry draft 2018

Seguin is clearly my best player so Im not sure because I'd be without a true ?elite? player after that trade.

here's my team if it can help :

You shouldn't have to give up your best player just to improve your defense. Like you said, you won't have m(any) elite players after this deal, so you'd just be improving your team depth. No deal, and I wouldn't counter. If that manager wants Seguin, let him keep coming back with better offers, hopefully with a top player eventually included.

Not really. He doesn't have many high end players so it's a tough sell. I understand that given your league depth the challenges to acquire good roster depth, but I wouldn't want to give up my best player - one in his prime no less - just for that depth. Seguin is a player you build your roster around, not used to find the depth.

If there's a place your team needs help, its your goalies. I wouldnt move your best player if its not improving your weakest part of your team.

He'd have to include Jake Allen in any offer before he'd even get my attention.

In a 10-team roto league I am looking at offering Letang/Weber + Vorachek for Seguin, if that helps your barometer at all. I not so sure the other team will accept.

Unless you're tearing it down (I'd want more regardless), I don't see a fit for moving seguin to the other gm

If he were to swap out the 1st with Jake Allen, I'd consider this - like Axe said, he needs to address your biggest need if you're giving up best player.

You need a d-man and a goalie. Hamilton + Allen is a nice haul in my opinion. I would have no problem giving Mrazek or Varly back either.

Hamilton becomes your best d-man and Allen becomes your best goalie.

I agree with the fact that I need to get better at G, and I like the idea of getting a goalie back in the trade but I also know that next year's top 3-5 draftees are gonna be great players (Dhalin, Veleno, Schevnykov, Tkachuk). And I'd like to get a shot at one of them

Would asking for something like that be a reasonable offer/return?

You can ask - I think it's fair.

I would still take the deal without the 1st and would prioritize Allen > Dahlen, etc. They're still prospects.

I'm all for using Seguin to get Hamilton, but you'd need to get a much better sweetener in return than ROR.

Who/what do you suggest because I wanted a center back in the trade and ROR is quite good at FOW and decent in most cats with been almost the same age as Seguin (1yr older). I think he's the other GMs best C...

As much as we'd all like to get a top 3 pick next year, if you don't address your goaltending, you aren't winning anything. Even Svechnikov/Dahlin won't score you a quality starter straight up. Don't get blinded by the early pick. Focus on your needs and you need a goalie a lot more than you need a Dahlin or a Svechnikov.
