Default Who to keep Carlson or Ekblad?

I am in a 12 team h2h keeper league, 25 roster spots, 8 keepers with categories (G, A, PTS, +/-, PPP, SHP, GWG, Hits, Blocks)

7 of my 8 keepers are in my signature. I have 1 spot left and am likely to keep a defenceman. Either Ekblad or Carlson?

I know Ekblad had a down year but I expect a bounceback and he will provide multi category coverage, however, if Carlson sticks as the top unit D on that WSH PP he will certainly up more points and does block quite a few shots as well. Who would you keep and why?

    Thanks in advance

    G - Rinne, Smith

That's a tough one. Carlson is only 27 entering what one could consider prime years for a dman, but Washington as a team is losing talent left right and center.

I'd probably go with Ekblad. He has comparable production and is still getting better as he's only 21. Go with the long term security.

Carlson for me. He is on the better offensive team and Ekblad has not shown me anything yet and he can't stay healthy. A lot of "if's" around Ekblad for me to draft him over Carlson. I think if any one bounces back it's Carlson. No Shattenkirk there this year. Ekblad has a lot of hype because of where Florida drafted him, he is over hyped and over rated IMO

I'd also go with Carlson, but I understand the struggle, Ekblad is clearly not a bad choice as his best years are coming for sure. But the point upside is clearly in Carlson's favor

Carlson for me as well. I think he's gonna have a huge year without Shattenkirk around, and seeing as though it's his contract year he'll be playing a step above usual. I'm also quite concerned about Ekblad's injury history.

    GET WELL SOON, DOBBER.

I love Ekblad. I rave about his potential to all who will listen, but given the choice straight up I prefer Carlson.
