What side would you prefer?

Carter (5.2M) + 5th rd pick vs Johansen (8M) + 6th rd pick

The 5th round pick is picking first in the round while the 6th is picking 4th in that round.
I much prefer Johansen to Carter, especially in a keeper league but it's RyJo's cap hit that bothers me a bit.

Is he worth it?

My other forwards consists of Tavares, Wheeler, Barkov, Pacioretty, Stone, Sheary

I prefer johansen because he's younger.

I'd take the Carter side for the cap savings and round jump. Carter may even be the better own in that format. You also have to consider that Tavs and Stone are getting hefty new contracts next year.

The only thing is Carter might not even be in my keepers list next year where as Johansen might be. Carter will be 33 or 34 next year. I also have a few prospects that will be keepers next year (Keller, Strome, Hischier). The problem is I also own Price. Listening to trades right now and hopefully I get a good return as his 10.5M cap hit next year is overpaying for him in my league (Wins & SO only).

Agreed 100%. Regardless if you don't keep Carter, is it really worth it to use up a keeper spot and 8mil on Ryjo? I don't think so. I think you are right about Price, move him if you can.
