This is for the yahoo team in my sig. As stated we keep 4 players and the players in bold are the players I kept starting last season (excluding Holtby who I acquired during the season in a package involving my former keeper goalie Corey Crawford).

My thoughts are I'm definitely keeping Kucherov since elite offense is so hard to acquire. Also since it's a 16 team league with most teams keeping a goalie so it's a no brainer keeping Holtby. After that I'm kind've on the fence.

I've had Giroux as a keeper for the last 3 years but every year his stats have regressed across the board (g,a,sog,+/-) and the fact that he plays center he'll be easier to replace...other then ppp he's been a "big name" disappointment.

Pastrnak had an outstanding year, I like that he's looking like an elite winger, who shoots alot which benefits the sog,g,gwg categories and he's young he should have another gear.

Gaudreau was 1 of last years keepers but I was mildly disappointed in him last year. I think the late signing of his extension and the "slash-gate" match against minnesota hurt his production so he should definitely improve on last years totals being closer to pt/gm production. Young pt/gm players are hard to come by. He definitely turned it up a notch the 2nd half. Also he has name value so if I keep him I'd have no problem moving him if I choose to.

Another guy i'm leaning towards who's a darkhorse candidate is Arvidsson. I picked him up off waivers last year and was pleasently surprised by his production. He shot alot, helped in the goals/assists cats and had 7shp. He barely provided any ppp so that makes me think with an uptick in ppp he could be able to sustain similar production. But i'm still not sure if he'll be able to repeat this type of production or if this was an outlier. Sure he'd look good anchored on the 1st line but it's not like nashville has a deep forward group so the coach could definitely put him on the 2nd line to spread the offense.

One last guy who people might want to mention is Schenn since he's a decent cross cat provider and while being traded to st.louis people think he'll center tarasenko. I'm least likely to choose him since I don't think he will be centering a schwartz-tarasenko line since center hasn't been his strong position in the nhl. He's not good defensively so I have to figure a defensive coach yeo would prefer to use someone who's more 2-way like statsny or steen over him.
Also other then scoring goals on the ppp he hasn't been much of a producer at 5v5. Yeo's teams usually don't score many ppg so I'm not confident we see an improvement over his usual 25g-30a production.

Anyways those are my options. I wrote about each player in the order I think i'd be easiest to redraft from earliest to latest.

*I'm not able to trade during the offseason or before we set our keepers for the season so trading assets now is not an option.

You are overthinking this in my opinion. I would definitely go Kucherov, Gaudreau, Holtby and Pasternak. You are right about Giroux. Ardvinson and Schenn are not considerations for me in the least. The next two would be Hamilton and Giroux, in that order and then a big drop off.

I'd replace Giroux with Pastrnak, the other 3 are fine as is.

I'm with the majority on this. I'd keep Kuch, Johnny, Holtby, and Pasta. All this talk about Schenn playing C, I think is just talk. He may get a few looks there but he's a winger IMO. He won't have as many PPP with the Blues either. Arvid, will have a cush spot but he trailed off in the playoffs and is the most dependent on his linemates. An argument could be made for Hamilton but in a keep 4 I think your decision is pretty clear cut.

Personally I'd keep Kucherov, Holtby, Pastrnak & Hamilton, unless for some reason D are really easy to come by in your league.

You must keep Hamilton. He's a beast in SOG leagues and only will get better. Arvidsson is quite good in leagues with SOG and SHP but I see him as a redraft. You have only one goal-oriented category, which hurts Pasta's value somewhat. Maybe see if you can trade Pasta or Gaudreau (who's very bad in multi-cats) and pull the trigger if you can get an upgrade. Otherwise, I'd probably go with Gaudreau (alongside Kucherov, Holtby, and Hamilton). Without FOW, let Giroux go. Or even try to trade him as well to see what you can land.

either way you do this you are letting quality players go. I am on board with Rizzee's assessment, Hamilton generates a ton of SOG. Btwn Pasta and Gaudreau...tough call. i like Johnny G, and i think he'll get back to his anticipated output. Pasta, i dunno..im not as optimistic he'll repeat, but teh potential is there.

A guy like Kadri provides much better coverage with the hits and will continue to get points on the Leafs. Pasta also delivered 72 hits last year which adds a bit more value to him. I could make a case for Hamilton over Pasta depending how your league values Dmen.

Kadri is a sneaky one..but i would say hes likely more re-draftable than teh others mentioned here. i do see your reasoning on JG though. Somebody with value IS going to get dropped no matter what..

I would say Kuch, Holby, Hamilton and Schenn with that scoring. Gaudreau is a non-factor for both hits and blks. I could see Pasta over Schenn too.
