Crosby for Hedman?

I got this offer:

i give: Crosby
I get: Hedman

this manager has Karlsson, Hedman, and Josi on his team and I tried stripping him of Karlsson but even getting him Crosby doesn't seem to make him want to budge.

Now I am fairly certain I will decline but want some other opinions. Our league is point heavy on dmen, especially offensive minded dmen. Hedman had 44fppg in our league last season and Crosby had 40fppg so it's pretty even in that regard.

My my only issue is that I don't know how I feel about a straight 1 for 1. Gaining Hedman would really solidify my defense and my forwards are pretty solid as they stand right now.

Heres the the rest of the managers team:

forwards: Backlund, Backstrom, Barkov, Gagner, Hartnell, Kunitz, Letstu, W Nylander, Ovechkin, Pastrnak, Seguin, JVR, Hemsky, Jokinen, Sissons, Watson

Defense: Giordano, Hedman, Karlsson, Josi, Savard, Seidenberg, Franson, Schmidt

Goalies: Murray, Domingue, Raanta

I'm thinking maybe Crosby and a pick for Hedman and Kunitz or something. He tried doing Crosby and Bowey for Hedman, Gagner, Sundqvist (who's in his farm) which I declined and countered Crosby Bowey and a first for Hedman, Nylander, Kunitz. He declined and then sent the 1 for 1 offer.

I love Hedman, but there are very few (if any not named McDavid) players in the league that you trade Crosby for, even in a package deal. I understand that your league's point system favors dmen, but last season was the best we're gonna get from Hedman, and Crosby should continue doing what he's been doing for the past 10 years.

Your league is waited to defensemen which applies to all defensemen. It doesn't really change their value much. I wouldn't trade Crosby for anyone but Karlsson on D

Never thought about it like that, guess it really doesn't change their value entirely too much. I tried doing a Crosby for Karlsson trade with the guy but he doesn't want to budge. I get not wanting to move Karlsson but it's not like I'm offering something shitty to him.

I like this deal. I think you might be able to squeeze a little something extra though. I mean, 'Crosby". That said, as I also play in a league that gives a bonus to D men scoring I know the value of top D. Add to that the fact that Crosby is one solid hit, or even a not so solid hit, away from what could be a career ending concussion, and I think I take Hedman.

Yeah I declined it, it's not a terrible idea but I'd rather move Crosby for Karlsson.

thats kinda my thought process as well. As a Pens fan, I'm huge on Crosby but I can't let personal feelings get in the way of fantasy. I just don't know what more I could get from him that he's willing to part with. I like the idea of getting Kunitz but he keeps throwing Gagner at me.

I think Hedman takes a step back this year. His 2 most productive seasons were during 2 stamkos long-term injuries. Maybe stamkos again misses significant time this year or maybe not...either way in a 1 for 1 i'm not trading crosby for any dmen other then karlsson...and maybe burns.

If you can't get Karlsson, I'd just walk away from this. I'd want to see one more monster year for Hedman before I'd be buying into him...

I think people oversell the "one hit away from retirement" angle. I mean he took that hit in the playoffs and was back 2 games later. There's probably not an athlete in any sport right now that knows more about concussions than Sid

Ok. Sid knows his concussion protocol. He should. Sid has had 4 concussions that have caused him to miss a total of 114 NHL games. Even if the next concussion does not retire him, it will certainly take another bite out of the number of games he plays. One must at least factor this to some degree into the value of Crosby in fantasy hockey pools. That is all I am saying.

Literally every athlete is 1 hit away from retirement. The amount of research that has been done into this is extensive. Sid is at no more risk than Ivan Lodnia. Perception just doesn't paint it that way.

Agree with this but also I see a step back from hedman. Not sure if you read the rambalings but clearly this other gm does. Hedman is a very big risk of not being on ppp1 this year as he doesn't fit so well with stamkos there. So if he loses any time there we could see a big step back
