Looking at who to pick up for my 3rd goalie this season. I have Crawford and Bishop right now. Guys in this league hold pretty tight to their tenders.

I would go with Lehner. He put up 920 save% on a bad team last year. The team should be better this year and he just signed a 1 year show me contract.

A few handcuffs there I see.

I'd probably like them this way:

    Smith
    Lehner
    Raanta

Those three are the clear starters for their respective teams. From there it gets tougher trying to figure out the handcuffs and weaker options. From here, I am guessing like this:

    Greiss
    Halak
    Reimer
    Luongo
    Elliott
    Grubauer
    Hellebuyck
10 Team, Points Only, Cash League

25 Man Roster (no position), top 20 point getters count at end of month
Keep 20/25 at seasons end, Cut 5 to FA for redrafting
    Goalie points W=2pt L=-1pt SHO=2pt

Stamkos, Tavares, Eichel, Mercer, JRobertson, RThomas, Kucherov, Nugent-Hopkins, Tuch, KConnor, Necas, Point, Konecny, SJarvis, Cozenz, Morrissey, Bouchard, Josi, Novak, Tolvanen, Peterka, Brink

    G- Vasilevskiy, Sorokin, Oettinger

With 2G every night and SV as a category, you probably should get a third starter if at all possible so that you can milk the most games possible. Assuming there isn't a 162 GP cap for your goalie position, I'd also opt for Lehner, with Smith and Raanta not too far behind.

I would have them in these tiers:

Lehner - probably the best of the goalies listed here
    Luongo
Raanta - upside to be the best goalie here but I don't see it on ARZ this year
Smith - #1 in CGY but high risk

Hellebuyck - Upside to jump up a tier but has competition in Mason making him risky
    Greiss
    Elliott

    Reimer
    Halak
    Grubauer

    12 Team H2H

Skater Cats: G, A, P, PPP, SOG, HIT, BLK

    Goalie Cats: W, GAA, SV%

    3 C, 3 RW, 3 LW, 5 D, 4 BN, 2 G

I am curious, what is this "high risk" for Smith you mention?

Raanta is my favourite here, but don't see the Coyotes getting enough wins to make him most valuable next year. My gut says that Elliot has one good season in Philly (zero evidence to back that up btw). I see Lehner having yet another sig injury. Calgary will be very good so I expect to see a Smith getting wins despite being Smith

Two names seem to rise to the top (Smith, Lehner), though after that there is a fair amount of diversity. It appears that most folks here believe Greiss, Elliot and Reimer are all gonna be in a time share situation.

What I meant is that he comes with a high level of risk because he's now 35 years old and may begin to decline soon, as well as the fact that his numbers over the past few years haven't been stellar. Granted, Calgary is a much better team with MUCH better defence than the Arizona of the past 3 years, but I still think there's a chance Smith struggles. We also saw Elliott come into a similar situation with a similar amount of hype last year and he struggled.

I like Lehner out of this list, if this is my 3rd goalie I am looking at upside and although I dont believe that he as sure of a thing as say Smith in CGY I like that he has an improving team infront of him and also that he has just a 1 year contract so lots to prove this year!

The whole team struggled under the new coach early on but once they got it figured out, I'd say Elliott did pretty damn good, tying a teams record of 11 straight victories. Smith is simply a better goalie than Elliott. As far as declining "soon", the OP is worried about this season, not long term, for his 3rd goalie. I have no doubt that Mike Smith will decline at some point, but he is still sitting pretty on a pretty good team for this year and next year (his contract expires at that time).

Either way, I appreciate the clarity for your comment.
